Mithic Industries LLC is an action sports focused clothing company started by me in 2008 (the designs and ideas started fl owing for this type of company back in 2002). So far I have just created T-shirt designs in hopes to build the brand gradually to a full-line of clothing and accessories.

The “star” logo is very simple but seems to fi t the industry well. A simple star shape with an “M” for mithic in the negative space. The subtracted smaller star adds another nice graphical element. You will see next, this design led to another design that could be used as an accompanying logo...

The “Bat” logo was simply taken from the previous “Star” logo by simply removing the “M” portion of the star. Once again, a graphic nicely fi t for the action sports world.

We chose these two methods to display the actual name of the company. I have leaned more toward using the ink written design but feel both represent the brand well.

In June 2007, I was a partner in starting a full-service sign company with my dad.

The company was called Sign-A-Rama, part of the largest full-service sign company in the worl with over 900 independently owned and operated locations. We opened our store in Pleasant Grove, UT. We specialized in many types of signs, specifi cally digitally printed. While managing this store I was in charge of most of the graphic design and the overall creative direction. The following are examples of our work...

Logos

Page 31: Design Portfolio

Through Sign*A*Rama, friends, and just personal interest, I

have created original logos and changed some old logos (most of my time spent on logo creation was for Mithic). Here are some examples...

A Logo created for a private hunting club. I proposed another font choice but the client really liked this font so we went with it.

You have to keep up with the fads, right? Sign*A*Rama still didn’t have a “2.0” version of their logo so I created this...

Another “2.0” re-design of a vet clinic my sister used to work at.

I have always hated Exit Realty’s logo so I set out to improve it. I felt they could do more with the name by adding the subtle image of a house between the E and the X. I submitted it to them but they declined to give it any thought due to the cost of rebranding. Understandable, but they really need to work on their current look. Anyway, moving on...

My cousin and his brother purchased a really good buffalo wing restaurant called Rocky Mountain WingShak (obviously)...

My sister-in-law is an incredible photographer. When she started out she asked me to help her create her “look.” This is what we came up with. If you ever want some good pictures taken, look her up...

It seemed for a while these types of shapes were the foundation for a lot of logos, so I thought I would put a few together...

Supposedly this company makes some dang good chocolate too. Hand-made in Heber City, Utah.

My dad works for a milk company called Cream o’ Weber in Salt Lake City. If you look at their current website you will see why I wanted to create this new layout. The company doesn’t put much emphasis on their web presence so this was more of a practice design.

This is a T-shirt design I did for Pearl Jam, a very popular band. They are celebrating their upcoming 20th anniversary and asked fan club members to participate. They wanted a design that represented their fi rst album, “Ten,” and the era it was released—affectionately named the “grunge” era. At the end of the competition and after thousands of votes, I was in the top 5 designs.

I grew up with paintings all over my house of New York City. My dad grew up in Queens and crossed the bridge into Manhattan everyday, he painted what he saw. It was only right for me to make my own creation...
