The I-10 & I-12 College Drive Flyover Ramp Project originated as part of the I-10 LA 415 to Essen Lane Project. This project, commonly known as the I-10 widening project, iden fied several sections of construction. The College Dr Flyover Ramp project shown below in light green is considered a section having independent utility, meaning it will be usable before the other improvements are built.

Purpose of and Need for the ProjectThe purpose of the College Dr Flyover Ramp Project is to improve flow within the I-10/I-12 west interchange. Currently, two lanes of I-10 westbound traffic merge with three lanes of I-12 westbound traffic before the College Drive exit. This merge creates a 5-lane section of interstate. Westbound I-10 traffic must cross over 3 to 4 lanes in order to exit at College Drive.

Project Overview
The proposed design for the project would allow traffic exiting I-10 to College Drive to flyover the existing lanes of I-12 West. The I-10 flyover would then join an exit rampfrom I-12 westbound and continue as a two-lane exit ramp to College Drive. I-10Westbound traffic exiting the interstatewould have to take the flyover to accessCollege Drive. The next exit for traffictraveling past the flyover would be at AcadianThruway. Two alignments are currently being considered: the Blue Alignment and the Yellow Alignment. It is an cipated that improvements and adjustments to these alignments will be made as part of the Design-Build Process.
Blue Flyover Alignment Concept Would locate the fl yover slightly south of the exis ng noise wall allowing the I-12 travel lane to pass between the wall and the flyover. A er descending from the fl yover , I-10 traffic would con nue west towards College Drive in the adjacent lane to the south.
Yellow Flyover Alignment Concept Would locate the flyover next to the existing noise wall. all I-12 westbound lanes would continue under the flyover. Exiting I-12 traffic would then join the I-10 flyover traffic on the two-lane exit ramp. The Yellow and Blue Alignments are only concepts.
PrProject Deoject Devvelopmenelopment Prt ProcessFederally funded projects must comply with the Na onal Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), which occurs in Stage 1 of the project development process. The environmental review for the College Drive Flyover Ramp Project is ready to be completed, and Stage 2, funding, is complete. As shown, a way to deliver the project in less me than the traditional method is the Design-Build process. By combining Stages 3-5, Design-Build has the poten al to save up to 2 years. For that reason, LADOTD has decided to use the Design-Build process to contract a single fi rm, or team of firms, to design and construct the project.
