3 Compact Service Corps AmeriCorps Program 2013 - 2014 Increasing academic engagement of K-12 students Primary and preventive healthcare in underserved communities Capacity building for volunteer resources for local nonprofit agencies Note: Financial need is NOT a consideration for this scholarship. IS THE COMPACT SERVICE CORPS AMERICORPS PROGRAM FOR YOU? EDUCATION: Tutoring, mentoring, academic engagement activities, service-learning, classroom instruction, literacy programs and extended day activities are all possible service projects for the CSC Program. Please refer to the Education Site Criteria for specifics on what type of K-12 host sites are eligible for CSC Members. HEALTHY FUTURES: Providing primary and preventive healthcare services to individuals who are uninsured, economically disadvantaged, medically underserved or living in rural areas are possible service projects for the CSC Program. Please refer to the Healthcare Site Criteria for specifics on eligible counties and host sites for CSC Members. CAPACITY BUILDING: Developing a volunteer generation plan, establishing a volunteer program, creating a volunteer manual/training/curriculum, screening and matching volunteers to opportunities, writing policies and job descriptions for volunteer involvement, planning volunteer recognition activities, or training staff in working with volunteers are all possible service projects for the CSC Program. Please refer to the Capacity Building Activities page of the Member Handbook for an expanded list of eligible projects for CSC Members. HOW IT WORKS: 1. Attend an orientation session with your Campus Coordinator, 2. Choose from one of five terms of service, correlating to five different scholarship amounts: (Note: not all terms of service may be available through your campus) 3. Work with your host site to determine a service project that meets the goals of the Compact Service Corps Program, 4. Engage in service activities and report time/progress to your host site and Campus Coordinator on a monthly basis, 5. Accumulate your service hours over the course of a year (or two years for a 900-hour term), and 6. Earn a service scholarship!
