William KEY 1–3 was born on 17 Sep 1767 in VA. 1 He died on 23 Oct 1855 at the age of 88 in Patoka, White River Twp., Gibson Co., IN. 1 The KY IGI page 13,090 lists William as born abt 1771 in Warren Co, KY. This is believed to be in error since the Keys didn't move to Warren Co. until after 1790. It is further believed that when IGI states Warren,,OF they mean VA. William's statement in the 1850 census confirms that he was born in VA. William was a millwright by trade. He was employed in building the first steam mill in Princeton when he lost his balance and fell from the top of the building and broke his back from which he recovered but he could never walk.
