• Definition: An accidental or intentional discharge of oil witch reaches bodies of water.

• Chronic oil spill seeps occur regularly

• The 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill was one of the worst oil spills in America

• The Gulf spill in 2010 went 168 m. into the Louisiana Coastline.

• Oil is a mixture of decayed remains of sea mammals that have drifted to the bottom.

I learned that…

The largest oil ship is a tanker called

the Exxon Valdez. Over 600,000 tons

of oil a year fall with rain or snow

into our oceans . Birds from an oil

spill are most difficult to feed . A

term “Rainbow Spill” is often used.

The oil turns to thick black tar like

substances.

LESSON LEARNED

Spread the Word

I would put up bulletin boards at every block and have a logo about oil spills. I will have oil spill pictures up and rent a designer to make t-shirts ,hats ,tank tops , and pants about this subject. I will also go on YouTube and upload a video.

random places like the ocean. I

will always remind others about

oil spills I will tell them of the

dangers that happen trough this

process.
