COMMANDER’SWELCOME
As Commander of the Headquarters NATORapid Deployable Corps-Spain I am pleased towelcome you to the Exercise TRIDENT JACKAL19. TRJA19 is the most important exercise of theHQ NRDC-ESP this year, as it represents the endof our process to become a NATO ForceStructure Joint Task Force Headquarters (JTFHQ).
The aim of this exercise is to evaluate our abilityto lead a multi-national Allied Joint Task Forcewith army, navy, air force and special operationselements as part of a Small Joint Operation (LandHeavy) assigned by NATO to operate in adesignated area of operations. Once the HQNRDC-ESP is certified as a Joint Task ForceHeadquarters, we will start a one year stand byperiod (JHQ 2020).
I wish to express my gratitude to all personnel,units and institutions who, through theirdedication and professionalism, have madepossible our ramping training up to ourcertification. The effort, commitment andcontribution of each and every participant haveset the conditions to reach this exercise with thehighest level of preparation thus enabling us tobe certified as JTF HQ.

The Training Audience (TA) will be exercised in critical tasks within anAllied Operation, under a fictitious scenario setting that will reflect anearly phase of the operation (deployment of JTF HQ and JLSG (JointLogistic Support Group) to the crisis area), in order to achieve theirrespective Training Objectives (TOs).
An Exercise Control (EXCON) is established within the Joint WarfareCenter facilities in Norway, except some elements in Spain, to set thenecessary conditions for the Training Audience to reach the TrainingObjectives.
GENERAL INFORMATION TRIDENT JACKAL 19 (TRJA 19) is a HeadquartersSupreme Allied Commander Transformation (HQ SACT)sponsored, operational-level exercise that will train,evaluate and support the certification of HQ NRDC-ESP asa Joint Task Force Headquarters in planning andconducting a Non-Article 5, Small Joint Operation withlimited complexity, against insurgents contesting NATOmainly in the Land and Cyber Domains.
