Au revoir!
EDITOR
DR I. BOULOUTA
VOLUME 2 ISSUE 1 DECEMBER 2013
Welcome to our latest Newsletter and do permit me to use this plat-form to update you on some of the Department’s headline achieve-ments for 2013.
I was tempted to say that these accomplishments are in no particular order, but con-cluded on reflection that the top billing should go to be the Department's remarkable haul of over 400 new graduates, nearly a quarter higher than the figure for 2012. Do join me in congratulating these latest members of the Department’s alumni commu-nity, and in wishing them all the best for the future. Producing top quality graduates typically requires the collective effort of all Depart-mental staff, so a huge dollop of thanks is due to all my colleagues for their generous service and citizenship during the past year. Colleagues also deserve immense credit for the many other impactful achievements reported in this Newsletter, including pres-tigious accreditations from elite professional bodies, successful bids to host premier international conferences, appointments to coveted editorial boards, publications in top ranked journals, presentations in major international conferences, and policy and practice-focused seminars hosted by our vibrant research centres for policy and busi-ness practitioners. Thanks colleagues. In concluding this message, I would like to pay a special tribute to our immediate past Head of Department, Professor Linda Trenberth, who completed her impactful tour-of-duty during 2013. Linda was committed service personified and a driving force for much of the Department’s growth over the past few years. Her boundless energy will be mightily missed, but I am sure you would all join me in wishing Linda the very best in her new role. Once again, thanks for your support and looking forward to our continuing collabora-tion during 2014. Best wishes. Professor Kevin Ibeh Assistant Dean /Head of Department of Management

As a research network, we are exploring the ‘ alternatives within ’ – i.e., the alternative paths of
