Soldiers with over 12 years AFS are required to reenlist for indefinite status if they do not havesufficient time remaining to meet this requirement, or decline promotion IAW AR 600-8-19, paragraphs 1-25 and 4-8. The authorityfor this promotion is AR 600-8-19, paragraph 4-8. Special Instructions: Soldiers promoted to Sergeant Major who do not haveUSASMC credit are promoted conditionally. Those Soldiers who receive a conditional promotion will be reduced and their namesremoved from the centralized list if they fail to meet the NCOES requirement.
