Good Things Pain Points
You are finally getting a new email system

Office 2013 and Office 365 for students. You will be using Outlook as your client
NO new ID creations for summer
Must save emails New rules for email
(1 Year MAX!) All Sign-ons will
change USE the BSCD website
to get information
The domain name will move from bibb.k12.ga.us to BCSDk12.net (The website will be an important communication tool in this process.)
Signing on to any computer in the district will change. All of your “rights” will be changed.
Your email naming convention will change to:◦ [email protected]◦ If there are two people with the same first and last name it
will go to [email protected]
You will receive an email soon with your new Network username and password. (Active Directory)
What if I receive IMPORTANT REQUIRED emails from the state? ◦ If you are getting emails from the state or other agencies, your
email account will still recognize bibb.k12.ga.us as a valid address. We are pulling this data nightly from the AS400
When will all of this happen EXACTLY?◦ We are racking/stacking the data center this week. We will begin
testing next week. Active Directory and Exchange implementations are being set up now and will be moved into the data center after testing. We will begin system data migration with “ESSENTIAL” systems following testing and then move school by school for Teacher/Student Data.

Single Sign On
We are repairing our “ailing” phone system right now. We have added additional POTS lines to every school. We are adding new routers to the 22 locations with the heaviest network traffic and installing SIP trunks at both Hutchings (data center) and 484 Mulberry.
The TOP priority for 2014-15 E-Rate filing will be a hosted IP Phone solution with an online fax solution.

Project to be completed by September 30, 2014

Your computers must be running Windows 7 or higher!
Your XP machines will not run on the new network!!!!

Schools will need to provide furniture. We plan to have all installed by Aug. 15
Support will change drastically with the new data center.
ITS’s have been reduced by 2. We will not be assigning ITS’s to schools. We can now touch every computer in every location from the data center.
We will certainly still be supporting keeping the equipment up and running.
The emphasis will be on training! Because of the great demand (from ALL departments) and the limited time we are quickly moving to online training modules.
Hosted VOIP phone system with online FAX capabilities.
New HELP Desk solution. New ERP System (Moving away from the
AS400)
