Transit Responsibilities
VanGO offers public transportation routes that operate on fixed schedules and
more specialized transportation services for those persons unable to utilize
the public transportation system.
Responsible for the oversight of VanGO and the operations provided by a
private contractor. Managers, dispatchers, mechanics and drivers are all
employees of the contractor.
County staff ensures the contractor is fulfilling contractual obligations, plans
routes/schedules, manages funding, reports to regulatory agencies, handles
community outreach and customer service and manages capital
procurements.

community assistance visit to ensure the community is enforcing its floodplain
management ordinance which will benefit a cost savings to citizens for flood
insurance.
Meet with Public Facilities and the Charles County Sherriff's Office monthly
for the Traffic Safety Committee.
Cross-training Engineers and Inspectors in each discipline to enhance
customer service.
Stormwater Management Maintenance, residential component.
Revising the Plan Preparation Package to incorporate the use of Energov and
the review of the construction close out process for development services
projects.
