RESEARCH
Managing the innovative value chain of the regional tourism
project carried out in 2010 – 2013 Research objects located in the southern region of Poland (NUTS 1): tourist SMEs
(HORECA), local governments, economic self-governments, tourists, local communities Aim of the research: developing conceptual and methodological foundations for the
integrated management of the innovative value chain at the regional level. Research work was focused on exploring innovation process in tourism from the open
innovation perspective, assuming that the synergy resulting from cooperation of the key regional stakeholders at all stages of the innovation process produce the added value within the regional tourism innovation chain.

Entrepreneurship in the tourism economy based on knowledge
project carried out in 2007 – 2009 Research objects located in Poland: tourist SMEs (HORECA), local governments Aim of the research: diagnostic analysis of the tourism economy based on knowledge
assuming that its effectiveness is determined by cooperation among stakeholders operating in local and regional tourist business environment.
The research work was focused on measuring the efficiency of external (inertia of the institutional environment) and internal (competence gap) leverages of competitiveness of tourist SMEs

accession to the EU The research work allowed for identification and verification of external (regional tourist
business environment) and internal (innovativeness, knowledge management, advanced IT solutions) leverages of competitiveness
