IntroductiontotheDepartmentTheHPERDepartmentoffersnationallyrecognizedprofessionalpreparationprogramsformajorsandaphysicalactivityprogramfornon-majorstofulfillgeneralphysicaleducationrequirements.TheDepartmentoffersundergraduatedegreeprogramsleadingtoaBachelorofScience(B.S.)degreeinPhysicalEducationwithteacherendorsementinHealthandPhysicalEducationatthePre-K-12levels,SportManagementandinKinesiology.ThedepartmentalsoofferstheMasterofScienceinSportAdministration(M.S.).Physicalactivitycoursesforthegeneraleducationrequirementincludeavarietyoflifetimesportsactivities.TheoverallgoaloftheHPERDepartmentistoprovideanenvironmentinwhicheachstudentcanpursueprofessionaldevelopmentandwellnessforlifethroughclassroomactivities,sportsskillspractice,andextracurricularactivitiesdesignedtoenhanceintellectualdevelopment,physicalfitness,emotionalstrengthandsocialwell-being.
