A REPORT
The Covid 19 pandemic fractured the academic career of the students. There was flood
of webinars as soon as the lockdown was announced. Majority of the webinars were for the
teaching faculties. We wanted to make it student-centric. And so the Principals and HoDs of
English of Shivaji Mahavidyalaya and Maharashtra Udayagiri Mahavidyalaya, Udgir thought
to reach to most of the students n teachers of the different colleges of SRTMUN jurisdiction
and give them Best lectures by equally best Resource Persons. We took a formal meeting and
planed this 4 days series of Invited Lectures and organized it during 10 - 13 February 2021
under the MoU signed between Dept of English, SMU & MUMU
Day 1- 10 February 2021:
The Inaugural Session was held at 10.am at the auspicious hands of Prof. Dilip Chavan,
Head, Department of English, School of Lanaguage, Literature and Culture Studies, Swami
Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded. The session was chaired by the Principal
of Shivaji College, Dr. Vinayak Jadhav. The Head of the Department Prof. Nagori S.R.
welcomed all and one through her Welcome Speech. The Co-host Principal Prof. Tamboli
R.R. too welcomed all the guests. The Chief Guest Prof. Dilip Chavan depicted a realistic
picture of the students’ and faculties’ academic plight owing to the unprecedented Covid 19
pandemic situation. Prof. Nagori S.R. proposed the vote of thanks and Dr. Arvind Nawale
conducted the entire session.
The first days’ lecture sessions were devoted to the Third Year Optional students for
Paper IX and XI. Dr. Nawale commenced the second session by introducing the speakers of
the session. The first speaker of the second session on the 10th of February was Dr. Dhananjay
Deolalkar, Head, Department of English, Vidarbha Institute of Science and Humanities,
Amravati. His topic was “Literary Criticism” whereas the second speaker of the same session
was Prof. Manisha Gahelot of People’s College, Nanded. She addressed on the Greek Master:
Aristotle entirely in a student oriented manner. Dr. Nagori S.R. proposed the vote of thanks.
The next session of Day 1 for Third Year students was by Dr.P.D.Shitole from Smt.
Sushiladevi Deshmukh College, Latur and Dr. Mahendra Shinde from Nutan Mahavidyalaya,
Selu.. Dr. Nawale welcomed the guests and all the participants. Prof. Nagori S.R. set up the
tune by introducing the speakers’ academic career. Dr. Shitole spoke on “Introduction to
Speech Sounds: Consonants in English. The next speaker was Dr. Mahendra Shinde. He
addressed the students on the topic “English Phonetics. Dr. Nawale proposed the vote of thanks.
All the sessions of the first day were concluded by 2 pm.

Day 2-February 11, 2021:
The sessions of Day 2 began at 10.00 am. They were committed to the students of
Second Year Optional. Dr. Nawale initiated the session and Dr. K.W. Gutte introduced the
speakers of the day. It was the session for Indian Writing in English paper. The first speaker
was Dr. D.R.Mane from ACS College, Shankarnagar. He narrated the story “Kabuliwalah” by
Rabindranath Tagore in a simple manner. Dr. Sanjay Haibatpure’s session could not be
complete due to technical barriers of internet at his end.
The second session of the Day 2 was for the paper entitled “American Literature.” Dr.
K.R.Gavane introduced the speakers- Dr. Prashant Mannikar from Dayanand College, Latur
and Dr. Datta Samant from Toshniwal Arts, Commerce and Science College, Sengaon. Dr.
Prashant Mannikar’s enlightening presentation was on Arthur Miller’s “All My Sons.” Dr.
Datta Samant’s mesmerizing presentation on “To Build a Fire” was a real academic feast for
the students.
The third session was dealt by Dr. Nitin Doke on Skill Enhancement Course. He spoke
on “Acquisitions of Communication Skills in English: A Need to Increase Employability” in a
very motivational way. Dr. Nagori S.R. proposed the vote of thanks.
Day 3-February 12, 2021
The penultimate day of the Online Lecture Series was devoted to First Year students
on the paper “Understanding Prose Fiction” Paper-I. Dr Nawale welcomed the session guests.
Dr. D.N. More from People’s College, Nanded and Dr. Mamta Jonpelliwar from Baliram Patil
College, Kinwat. Dr. D.N.More’s talk on Thomas Hardy’s “The Three Strangers” was a
wonderful presentation. The next session of Dr. Mamta Jonpelliwar on “The Old Man and the
Sea” by Ernest Hemingway was an excellent presentation for the MCQ pattern exam for the
students. Dr. Prashant Mane conducted session and at last proposed the vote of thanks.
The next session was on the paper “Understanding Poetry.” Dr. Nawale welcomed the
speakers Prof. Laxman Jogdand from Mahatma Gandhi Mahavidyalaya, Ahmedpur and Prof.
Padmarani Rao, Yeshwant Mahavidyalaya, Nanded. Mr. S.M. Suryawanshi welcomed and
introduced the speakers of the day. Dr Jogdand explained the ‘Elements and a Brief History of
English Poetry’ to the students. Prof. L.V. Padamarani Rao’s excellent PPt presentation on
“Ode to Autumn” by John Keats was quite absorbing. Dr. Nagori S.R. expressed her gratitude
to both the guest speakers.
Day 4-February 13, 2021:
The concluding day comprised three sessions. The first two were devoted to First and
Second Year Compulsory English and the concluding session was Valedictory Function.
The first session of AECC-English Communication Paper-1 was dealt by Dr. Kishor
Ingole from Shivaji College, Hingoli and Dr. Rohidas Nitonde from Shivaji College, Parbhani.
Dr. Prashant Mane familiarized the speakers to the students. Dr. Ingole explicated
Shakespeare’s sonnet “My Mistress’ Eyes are Nothing Like the Sun” in an enlightening way.
The next speaker Dr. Rohidas Nitonde gave an outstanding presentation on Abdul Kalam’s “I

Have Three Visions for India.” Prof. Nagori S.R. thanked the speakers for their wonderful
presentations for the students.
The Resource Persons for the second session were Dr. Ramakant Mundhe from St.
Tukaram College, Parbhani and Dr. Rajesh Gore from Toshniwal Arts, Science and Commerce
College, Sengaon. Dr. Kiran Gutte, a faculty from Shivaji College, Udgir introduced the
resource persons. Dr. Ramakant Mundhe addressed on ‘The Lost Child’ by Mulk Raj Anand
in a very gripping way. Mr. Rajesh Gore illuminated the students on Oscar Wilde’s ‘The Model
Millionnaire’ in an impressive manner. Dr. Nagori S.R. acknowledged their efforts while
proposing the vote of thanks.
The last and the concluding session was the virtual Valedictory Function. The key host
faculty Dr. Arvind Nawale operated the entire session. The chief organizer, Principal of Shivaji
College, Dr. Vinayak Jadhav chaired the Function. The co-organizer Principal of Maharashtra
Udayagiri Mahavidyalaya, Udgir, Principal Prof. R.R. Tamboli, was also present on the virtual
dias. The Chief-Guest was the BoS Chairperson Prof. M.M.Niwargi. Dr. Dhananjay Deolalkar
was the Guest of Honor for the Valedictory Function. Initially, Dr. Nawale welcomed
everybody on and off the virtual dias. Prof. Nagori Smita gave an introductory speech by
familiarising the Chief-Guest and both the Principals. The co-host Prof. R.R. Tamboli
appreciated the efforts taken by the English Departments of both the colleges. He also
expressed his gratitude towards the Principal of Shivaji College and the key host/convenor Dr.
A. M. Nawale for organising the student centric ‘Invited Lecture series’. Dr. Nawale took the
online feedback of 4 students named Anita Khandelwal from Pathri College, Shreya
Wattamwar from Maharashtra Udayagiri Mahavidyalaya and Kumre Lipika and Jyoti
Kumbhar from Shivaji Mahavidyalaya, Udgir. All of them narrated how beneficial the online
lecture series proved for them. A few faculties also gave their positive and fruitful feedback
like Dr. Dhananjay Deolalkar, Dr. P D Shitole, Dr. R S Nitonde, Dr. Sawant, Ms. Jyoti
Sampale, Mr. Manoorkar and Prof. Mahendra Shinde.
The Chief-Guest and the BoS Chairman, Prof. Mahesh Niwargi valued the efforts taken
by both the colleges during the most crucial time of the students’ mind-set. He also gave an
informative talk on the changing types of communication in the fast developing digital world.
The Presidential Speech given by the Principal Dr. Vinayak Jadhav was very encouraging. He
congratulated the teams of both the colleges for their successful venture. The vote of thanks
was proposed by Prof. Nagori Smita. She thanked everyone expecting the same cooperation in
the future. The valedictory session concluded with the video clip of the national anthem.
The 1,647 students/teachers registered for this ‘4 Days Online Invited Lecture Series’
through Google Form. This lecture series is conducted on Zoom Cloud US Webinar platform
and had 920 unique viewers and 1783 users recorded therein whereas +2000 viewers accessed
these lecture on YouTube channel till now.
