About our Department
Aims of the Seminar
Themes of the Seminar
The Department of English was started in 1925. It has a prestigious history. Being one of the largest and oldest departments of the college, it offers a variety of academic programmes from the undergraduate to the doctoral level. The department caters to the needs of the students who come from the vernacular medium with a streaming system for the General English Programme. The Department has to its credit M.Phil. in English Language Teaching (ELT) since 2007. A well established Research Centre for the research scholars is an add on to the credentials of the department.

v To question the status quo of an apathetic society
v To identify the values and recognize the ethical dilemmas
v To form a cluster in promoting research in this area
Protest Writings relate to every crisis that needs an understanding of the society. It kindles the minds and awakens the humanity. Protest Writings have played a crucial role in many revolutions. It makes people perceive the complexities of the suppressed, ostracised and the downtrodden. A Protest writer acts as an agent of transformation. Some of the themes that can be explored by the paper presenters are:

v One Day (21 January 2019) : Timings : 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
v After the Inauguration there will be a Keynote Address.
v Paper Presentations by Participants followed by Panel Discussions with a Moderator
v Street Play by the student participants
v Papers selected after peer review will be published by a leading publisher with an ISBN Number
v The title and the abstract have to be sent before 20 November 2018 along with the registration form.
v Papers have to be in Times Roman 12 font, with 1.5 line space.
v The research paper (both soft and hard copies) has to be sent to the coordinators on or before 10 December 2018
v Faculty members who present papers are required to pay Rs. 1000/-
v Students/ Research Scholars who present papers are required to pay Rs. 800
v Faculty Members/ Student Participants are required to pay Rs. 500
