EVENTS ORGANIZED BY DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH

Department of English conducted a certificate course which was sponsored by University

Grants Commission, New Delhi. The course aimed at enabling the students of this

college to communicative effectively in English.

Department of English organized an educational tour to Geetam University,

Vishakhapatnam. The students of our college interacted with the students Geetam

University and learnt communicative skills, students visited advanced language lab and

experienced their language lab software. Moreover, the students also visited Law

Department of the university where the students beheld court-room procedure and the

process of taking witness and cross-examination at the court of law. The tour was led by

Prof. Anurag Pandey, Astt. Professor, English Department, Kalyan P.G. College, Bhilai.

Department of English organized a workshop on the various skills in English Language.

The objective of the workshop was to develop the four basic skills to the best of student’s

ability. Mr. Tausif Rahman, English Language Trainer and CELTA Graduate from

Cambridge, was the resource person for the entire workshop.

The Alumni Association of the department of English organized an inter-collegial

workshop on “Enhancement of Communicative Skills” on 13/01/2017. Ms. Pratibha

Chhibber and Mrs. Monika Sharma were the resource persons respectively in the two

sessions of the workshop. Almost 85 students from different colleges participated in the

one-day workshop. A certificate for the same has been awarded for their participation.

Department of English organized an educational tour to Goa University, Maharashtra.

The students met the teaching faculty in the department of English at Goa University

where they attended a special class of linguistics by the subject expert of the department.

The students also beheld the audio-visual lecture room in the university where they learnt

the importance of audio-visual aid in teaching-learning process. Moreover, the students

also took an experience of the recording studio at the Goa University where the subject

experts record their lectures which is made available to everyone on open platform.

Department of English organized a guest lecture delivered by Dr. Tapas Mukherjee, Astt.

Professor, Dr. Khoobchand Baghel College, Bhilai-3. Looking to the need of the post

graduate students, the spokesperson informed about concept of drama, types of drama,

Greek theory and information regarding Greek and Roman Literature. Students also

learnt about the essential elements used in ancient classical dramas.

Department of English organized one-day Yoga class for P.G. students. Students were instructed

about basic Yoga steps to keep themselves fit and concentrated.

(1) Students of English Department organized a Blood Donation Camp for public benefit.

(2) The joy of giving is a social campaign in which the students of department of English

take initiatives and collect worn out clothes and goods, utensils not in use to recycle and

donate to needy people.

(3) English department organized A Special Programme “Mission Cleanliness - 2017” to

clean the department and make a healthy environment for everyone and also planted

many plants to maintain greenery as well as peaceful atmosphere.
