U.S. DOE-KCP JULY -SEPTEMBER Quarterly Report
Quarterly Report (reporting period January- March 2017) MSOP Report Issues Update
Outfall 002 PCB Corrective Actions Base Flow Diversion The base flow diversion system has been fully operational since March 7, 2005. The system is effectively capturing base flows with only rain event flow being discharged. During this reporting period samples from Outfall 002 were collected on 9 out of 13 weeks during the reporting period. During weeks samples were not collected there was insufficient rainfall run off to bypass the base flow diversion system resulting in no discharge for the week.
Facility Status Operations formerly housed at the Kansas City Plan (KCP) have been transferred to the Kansas City-National Security Campus (KC-NSC). As such, manufacturing operations are no longer occurring at the KCP. The majority of equipment has been transferred to the NSC-KC and/ or excessed. Maintenance personnel are still stationed at the KCP to ensure building infrastructure systems remain operational. Materials stored at the KCP are limited to relatively small volumes of fuel oil to power existing back-up generators and chemical additives used in groundwater treatment system operations. The DOE plans to transfer the KCP to a private developer during 2017.
