Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme - HKPFSWith the aim to recruit the brightest students from around the world to pursue their PhD studies in Hong Kong, the Government of Hong Kong has established the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS). Currently, HKPFS provides a stipend of HK$25,800 (~US$3,307) per month and the University further provides an entrance scholarship worth around HK$81,096 (~US$10,396). HKPFS applicants are also automatically considered for Regular Admission to the University.
Regular AdmissionApplicants can alternatively choose to apply for regular admission without going through HKPFS and also be �nancially supported up to the stipulated study period. The studentship rate for 2019/20 is HK$17,000 per month.
English RequirementsExcept for applicants from universities using English as the medium of instruction, the University stipulates a minimum language requirement of• IELTS 6.5 or• TOEFL ibt 79 (or equivalent)* For exceptional applicants with strong academic and research track records, a minimum score of 490 in CET-Band 6 may
be considered for the English requirement. However, CET is not recognized as a su�cient proof of English pro�ciency for HKPFS.

Application Deadlinesè For HKPFS, the application is due on 2 Dec 2019 (by 12:00 noon Hong Kong time).è For regular admission, there are di�erent rounds throughout the year. The earliest rounds are due on 2 Sep 2019 and
1 Nov 2019. The normal round is due on 2 Dec 2019. Applications received after the deadline will be considered depending on the availability of positions and funding.
