Discussion on Project Orientation

A Discussion has been arranged for the students of final year computer science and

application, about the topic, “Project Orientation” on 18/06/2018.The session started

at 1.30 pm at computer lab by the experts Mr. Ashique and Mr.Sumesh from BLUEGEN

IT solutions Calicut. Mr.Arshad P.T Assistant Professor had welcomed the experts for

the session.

The session was very useful for the student, since the project is compulsory for the

final year. They explained the methods and procedures for carrying out a project. The

session was very informative and interesting for the students. The experts explained

the concepts for selecting a topic for the project. They also ensured their cooperation

throughout the project. The students raised many doubts and the experts provided

clear solutions for the students. The team provided additional information for

becoming a good programmer. The session was really motivating and inspiring. At the

end of the session they collected the feedback from the students. Mr. Aflah Rafeeque

of final year BCA delivered the vote of thanks. The session ended by 3.30pm.

UG Induction program

The first year U G induction program was conducted on 16th July 2018. The first year

B.Sc computer and BCA students of 2018-2021 batch .The newly admiited students are

advised to present with their parents. The induction program was scheduled as two

phases. The first session in the department is arranged to address the students and

the second session to address the parents. The induction program started at 10am at

room no 115 of SIAS for the students. Head of the department Mrs. Manju Susan

welcomed the session. HOD introduced all the faculty members of the department.

Then she explained the scope of the two courses BCA and B.Sc. CS in the current

system. She also elaborated the rules of the department, discipline and the importance

of the attendance to the students.

Then Major Dr.Shayida, HOD dept of Mathematics described the scope and

relevance of the mathematics in the B.Sc computer science and BCA course. She also

explained the difficulties of mathematics course and the ways for tackling that

difficulties. Then Mr. Arshad , faculty dept of computer science explained the

importance of the course. Ms. Shimna, faculty dept of computer science explained the

rules and discipline that should be followed in computer lab. She also explained the

infrastructure available in the computer lab .Then Mr. Mohammed Haneesh KP

described the extra-curricular activities, anti-drug committee and the ragging. He

explained the consequences of drug usage and gave awareness to the students. Mr

Abdul Samad ,faculty member described the syllabus and papers in the B.Sc CS and

BCA .Ms Faseela ,Faculty Dept of mathematics explained the result analysis of

mathematics. Ms Nazrin , HOD dept of Statistics explained the importance of the

statistics in computer science course. Ms Fathima Habi , Mr Anshad , Mr. Mohammed

Jaseem K also interacted with the students.

In the second session all the faculty members interacted with the parents and

explained all the matters regarding the course structure, rules, internal marks and

discipline and co-curricular and extra-curricular activities of the department.

Innovative technologies behind a project

Department of computer science and applications organized a seminar on Innovative

technologies behind a project on 27/7/2018 by a team of IT professionals from RISS

solutions Calicut. The team includes the senior project Manager Mr. Rejin , Senior

project Associate Mr. Nikhil and project coordinator Mr.Roshin. The session was

organized at seminar hall from 10.30 to 12.00 for the final year students of BCA and

B.sc CS students.

Mrs. Manju Susan, HOD, dept of computer science and Applications delivered welcome

speech. Then project manager delivered a brief introduction to all latest technologies

now in the IT industry. They started the session at very basic level and ended with the

overall idea for choosing a technology for doing their academic project. There is also

an interacting session for doubt clearing. It was very useful for the students .

Mr . Nassurudheen of fifth BCA delivered the vote of thanks. The session was concluded

at 12.30pm.

Graduate Employability Test (GET)

The Computer Science department of SIAS had conducted an aptitude test by NIIT

Calicut on 19/09/2018. The program started at 10.30am. Mr. Mohammed Aslam V,

Education Consultant ,NIIT Calicut handled the session. All the students from first year

and third year of BCA and BSc computer science attended the test.

The head of the department Mrs. Manju Susan started the session by welcome

speech. Mr. Mohammed Aslam .V gave an introduction about the session. He

discussed about the scope of IT field especially in Artificial Intelligence, Machine

Learning, Robotics. He explained how to appear the GET test. The question paper

contained 100MCQ each carried one mark and duration one hour. The question paper

included different sections Reasoning, Mathematics and Logical Reasoning. The

question was of good quality, but the student felt very difficult to manage time and

attend questions. After the test they conducted a psychological test to analyze their

own character.

In next section the students were provided a blank sheet and asked to draw a flower

within a minute, and then he asked to fold the sheet into three equal parts and to

unfold the sheet. He explained that if the flower is positioned in the first part the

people were categorized as ‘optimistic, if it is in the middle of the sheet categorized as

‘Realistic’, else ‘Pessimistic’.

The session was really interesting. The students realized the importance of time

management. The session ended by 12.30pm.

Association Inauguration

The Association Inauguration of Computer Science and Application Department

‘AbaCAS’ was held on 15th october 2018. The chief guest of the program was the former

AKSHAYA IT Secretary, Malappuram District Dr. K P MUHAMMED BASHEER Associate

Professor, Sullamuslam Science College Areacode.

The program was started at 10AM at seminar hall with the prayer. The welcome

was done by the Association Secretary Ms. Sahla, second year Computer Science

student. The Presidential Address was done by the Department Head Mrs.Manju Susan

Thomas. The Patron Speech done by the Principal Dr. P V BASHEER AHAMMED. And

the association the was Inaugurated by the chief guest Dr. K P MUHAMMED BASHEER.

The felicitation speeches were done by done by Mr. Haris Unnipulan Staff Secretary

SIAS & Assistant Professor in Commerce Department, Mr. Jamsheel Union Advisor &

Assistant Professor in Mass Communication and Journalism Department, Mrs. Nazreen

KT Head of Department of Statistics and Sainul Abid Union Chairman. Muhammed

Favad First DC ended the first section of the program by vote of thanks.

In the next section we had a career guidance class by the chief guest Dr. K P

MUHAMMED BASHEER. It was an innovative and informative class for the students.

G-Tec group of computer education conducted an introduction class on distance

online course ‘GEM-ELSP’ for the students. ELSP is a project under Government of India

to enhance the employability of the students .They explained what is the Employment

Linked Skilling program and how to register with it

Seminar Competition

After-noon section program was started at 2.00PM.

The section included seminar competition of the students from third years In seminar

section students presented their selected topics of different technologies. After the

cultural program, by 5.00PM we ended our program.

Report of the PTA meeting conducted on 26th October 2018 for

the first year BSc. Computer Science and BCA

Venue:

With a view to let the parents aware of the students’ academic as well as personal

problems. First year PTA meeting of BCA and B.Sc computer science was conducted.

Objectives of the PTA meeting :

To inform the parents the time schedule of college.

To inform them the activities of the students in the campus.

To evaluate the aptitude and attitude of the students.

Inform them the progress of their children.

To aware them regarding co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.

To discuss the need for co-operation among teachers and parents in improving the

growth and development of the students.

With the objectives mentioned in view, invitation letter to each parent has been

charted and despatched through the students. All the parents have been invited.

The meeting was scheduled at 2.00pm to 4.30pm. The parents of both computer

science and BCA ,majority of them attended the meeting. The following teachers were

attended the meeting.

The HOD of the department started the meeting through welcome speech, expressing

thankfulness for their presence and highlighted the significance of meeting. The

principal addressed the mentioning the vision and mission of SAFI. The teachers

motivated the parents to co-operate with teachers in motivating and giving proper

guidance to the students in achieving the goal of all-round development. Each students

along with parents interacted with the teachers .personal and academic issues were

discussed and solutions suggested.

The meeting was concluded by Mr. Jaseem the advisor, delivering vote of thanks.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT

26/11/2018 INDUSTRIAL VISIT was conducted for the third semester BCA and B.Sc

students as a part of their syllabus. Two department faculties Mr. Abdu Samad C Mr.

Muhammed Haneesh K.P and ,Ms Saroja accompanied them. The students prepared

a report on the industrial visit. They also visited nearby places also.

Workshop On Python Programming

Department of Computer science and applications has organised a one-day workshop on

Python Programming by TALROP Innovations Solutions, Trivandrum on 25/02/2019.

The workshop held at Department computer lab from 9.30 am to 3.30 pm. All the final year

students from BCA and B. Sc CS actively participated in the workshop.

The workshop started with an inauguration session. Mr . Aflah Rafeeq of 6th semester BCA

welcomed the gathering Then followed by Presidential address by Mrs Manju Susan ,HOD

department of Computer Science and Applications .She also Introduced the technical team

from TALROP Innovations Solutions ,Trivandrum

The workshop started at 10am after the inauguration session. The Chief technical Officer

from TALROP innovations Mr Sobir started the session with the introduction to the Python

Language.

The students were introduced a framework called “Django “where the students can do the

apps in the language’s Android and python. Then the workshop turned into serious stage with

introduction of concepts and features of Python language. After the first session the students

got the confidence to do the hands-on experience by creating a webpage by the Python

programming language in the Django framework. Every student created their own web page.

In the afternoon session the main objective of the session was to create an android

application using Django framework. The students are really motivated and got the

confidence to use the Python language.

There was a feedback session from the students about the workshop.

In the concluding session Mr Salman Faris P from 6th semester B.Sc. CS made the vote of

thanks for the session.

Farewell to final year CS and BCA

Department of Computer Science and Applications organized a farewell party to final year out going BCA and CS on 14th March 2019. The programme is conducted at the seminar hall of SIAS from 1.30

pm to 3.30 pm.

The programme was organized in organized by the association and mentored by the Department

teachers. A team is formed for the smooth conduct of the programme. All the teachers from the

department were attended the function.
