Event: Freshers’ Welcome

Date: 15th September, 2018

Venue: Pushpam Tarsadia Auditorium, Uka Tarsadia University, Maliba Campus

Objectives: To welcome the fresher's and stimulation them for their involvement in

various extra-curricular activity along with curricular activities.

To make them feel like an integral part of applied science family and

readies to take on the responsibilities of the year ahead.

Minutes of the Program

1. The Program started at sharp 10.00 am with the anchors Mr. Harshil Bhatt, Miss.

Mousam Patel of M. Sc. (Organic Chemistry) Sem 3.

2. All the respected dignitaries were invited for lamp lightening.

3. Lamp Lightening was done at 10.10 am with Ganpati Vandana by Dr. Satyanarayan

Battula, faculty of Department of Chemistry.

4. All the respected dignitaries have taken their seats on the dias.

5. Floral Welcome of all the dignitaries were done by the students (toppers of final year

Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics) at 10.15 am

6. Welcome Speech was delivered by Prof. R. Krishnamurthi, Hon’ble Dean of Department

of Applied Sciences. His speech was mainly focussed on the understanding of basics

science. He had cited the outstanding works of Prof. Ramanujan, Prof. C V Raman and

motivated the students.

7. Dr. Shree Mishra (Head of the Department, Department of Physics) then welcomed the

freshers with her speech. She emphasized of the importance of such program, which is

mail targeted to know each other, to work together with utmost integrity within the

campus.

8. Dr. Bhavika Tailor (Head of the Department, Department of Mathematics) welcomed

the freshers with warmth and positivity. She told that the campus of UTU has positive

vibes so the students were encouraged to participate in various curricular and co-

curricular activities.

9. Dr. Ajit Joshi (I/C Director, Department of Chemistry) highlighted on the fact that the

greatest strength of the chemistry department is it’s well qualified faculty members.

Students were encouraged to utilise the experience of these faculties for their future

endeavours.

10. Prof. N. C. Shah (Hon’ble Advisor, UTU) welcomed the students by motivating and

inspiring them with their sense of self responsibility. Since UTU has one of the best

campus, students were asked to take full advantage of the infrastructure available.

11. Prof. Dinesh R Shah (Hon’ble Provost, UTU): Started his speech with vibrant and

motivating quotations. He stressed on the fact that everyone should go with the flow of

time and with time one must change. UTU is following the same, and going with time

and modifying itself from time to time. Further he told the freshers that group

education is important and UTU will provide all the necessary infrastructure to help

them to build their career.

12. Sh. Bhagubhai Patel (Hon’ble Chief Guest): started his speech by thanking Hon’ble

Bhikhubhai and Pushpaben. He further told the students about the important of

research. He also asked the students to get involved in various chemical/petroleum

based research activities for the betterment of future and society.

13. Cultural program started with the Bharatnatyam dance by Ms. Dharti Bhandari (MSc

Sem 3, Organic Chemistry).

14. Lunch was provided at the Girls Hostel Canteen between 12.20 pm to 1.30 pm.

15. The second part of the program started at 1.30 pm sharp.

16. After all the cultural performances were over, on the discretion of the panel of the

judges [Dr. Anand Patel, Mr. Hitesh Rajput, Mr. Mihir Panchal], Ms. Hiral Modi B. Sc.

Chemistry 1st Sem and Mr. Sreejith Cp Sivasankaran Int. M. Sc. Mathematics 1st Sem

were named Miss Fresher and Mr. Fresher respectively.

17. The program ended with the vote of thanks by Dr. Sutapa Mondal Roy, Co-ordinator of

the program.

18. Back in the department premises, there were ice-cream for everyone and finally a

Garba-dance party to end the occasion.
