15th September, 2017:

On the valediction ceremony of Hindi Day celebrations, Dr. E. Mini, Hindi Department

Head of Govt. Arts and Science College, Kozhikode spoke on the topic “Royal Language

Hindi and Challenges”. The function was presided over by Sree. K. V. Unnikrishnan, Hindi

Department Head. College Principal Dr. K. T. Raveendran gave away prizes to students who

won in various competitions. Dr. Mini A. R. delivered the Welcome Address and Dr.

Sreemaya C. proposed Vote of Thanks.

30th

October 2017:

The Open Defence of PhD thesis done by Pro. Hemalatha under the guideship of Dr. M.

Aravindhan was conducted. Dr.Uma Hedge from Kuvembu University, Dharvaad, and

Karnataka presided over the Open Defense.

21st November, 2017:

A function was organized to commemorate Kumvar Narayanan, the noted Hindi poet. Sree.

Janardhanan, former Hindi Department Head of Payyanur College gave a talk. Dr. Sreemaya

C. delivered the Welcome Address and Dr. Mini A. R. proposed Vote of Thanks.

10th

January 2018:

A programme was conducted on Hindi Viswa Divas at Edanad U.P. School. Several

competitions were conducted for the students of the school and prize were given to the

winners.

15th

and 16th

March 2018:

A two day National Seminar was organized at the College department on the topic ‘Hindi

Sahithya ka Samajik Sarokar’. The seminar was inaugurated by famous journalist Dr. Aswani

Kumar Shukla, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Hindi, Panditt Jawaharlal

Nehru Mahavidhyalaya, Banda, Uthar Pradesh. Dr. K T Raveendran, Principal, Payyanur

college presided over the function and Dr. Preethi K, Hindi Department delivered the

Welcome Address. Scholars including Dr. K. Narendranath, Dr. M. Meera, Pro. K.

Janardhanan, Dr. M. Aravindhan, Dr. Prabhakaran Hebbar Illath, Dr. V. Kumaran, Dr. Manu,

Dr. Pramitha K, Dr. Mohanan V T V, Dr. Jnaneswary, Dr. Remya Balan, Pro. Vijayan K, Dr.

Sreeja Govindh and Dr. Dhanya KP presented papers on various topics.

A book by Dr. Mini A R. titled “Sattothar Hindi Mahila Kadhakarom ke Kahani Sahithya

mem Naari” was published by Principal of Payyanur College, Dr. K. T. Raveendran by

handing over it to Dr. Aswani Kumar Shukla.

On 16th of March 2018 at 2.30 pm, Pro. K V Unnikrishanan, Associate Professor, Head of

Hindi Department was given a memorable send-off at his Retirement. Dr. K. Naredranath

was the chief guest and Dr. Preethi K presided over the function. Several teachers and

students from other departments as well as alumni of Hindi department took part and spoke

on the occasion. Dr. Sindhu A delivered the Welcome Address and Dr. Sreemaya C proposed

the Vote of Thanks.

On 20th

March 2018 the department organized send off function to final year BA Hindi and

BA functional Hindi students.

2016 JUNE - 2017 MARCH

The inauguration of Hindi and functional Hindi association was held on March 7 2017, by

Dr. Jayaram Poduval (HoD of Art History MS Baroda University). KV Unnikrishnan chaired

the programme. Functional Hindi association secretary Arathi M delivered the welcome

speech and Hindi association secretary Anusree P gave vote of thanks.

27th September, 2016:

Petrolium) spoke on the topic “Hindi language”. The function was presided over by Sree. K.

V. Unnikrishnan, Hindi Department Head. College Principal Dr. K. T. Raveendran gave

away prizes to students who won in various competitions. Dr. Preethi K. delivered the

Welcome Address and Dr. Sreemaya C. proposed Vote of Thanks.

22nd March, 2017:

A book by Dr. Sreemaya C. Titled “Hindi Kahaniyom ka Athiyatharvadi Swar” was

published by Principal of Payyanur College, Dr. K. T. Raveendran by handing over it to Sri.

K. V. Unnikrishnan, Hindi Department Head.

Felicitation for Hindi and Functional Hindi Department students who scored well in the

Kannur University final year examinations was held.Shamila abdul shokkur. Souparnika.

Divya ramachandranV. from Hindi Department and Manjusha .PV, Vrinda Namitha EV

from Functional Hindi Department secured ‘A’ grade in overall. An endowment ceremony

was organised in which these students were appreciated by the teachers and students.

Felicitation was given for Sajesh Muttath of Hindi Department who excelled in sports.

1st and 2nd of February, 2016:

A U G C National Seminar was organized at the College department on 1st and 2nd of

February topic is New Trends In Hindi Lterature. The seminar was inaugurated by Sree.

Brajendra Tripathi, former Vice President of Kendra Sahithya Akademi. Sreemathi.

Premavalli presided over the function and Sree. K. V. Unnikrishnan, Hindi Department Head

delivered the Welcome Address. Scholars including Dr. Manoj Kumar Pandey (Wardha

University), Dr. Padmapriya (Pondicherry University), Dr. Aravindhakshan (P. V. C. Wardha

University), Dr. Pramod Kovvaprath (Associate Professor in Calicut University) and Dr.

Santhi Nayar (Sree Sankaracharya University, Kalady) presented papers on various topics.

2nd February, 2016:

Hindi and Functional Hindi Associations were inaugurated by Dr. Manoj Kumar Pandey of

Wardha University. The function was presided over by K. V. Unnikrishnan, Head of Hindi

Department. Malavika, Secretary of Hindi Association delivered the Welcome Address.

Felicitation for Hindi and Functional Hindi Department students who scored well in the

Kannur University final year examinations was held along with it. Shyamila Abdul Shukkoor

from Hindi Department secured an ‘A+’ grade. Sauparnika K., Divya Ramachandran, and

Meenu K. P. from Hindi Department as well as Manjusha P. V., Vrindha and Namitha from

Functional Hindi Department secured ‘A’ grade in overall. These students were endowed in

this occasion. Ullas K., Functional Hindi Association Secretary proposed the Vote of Thanks.

2015 Sept 24:

The programmes organized by Hindi Department as a part of Hindi Week celebrations were

inaugurated by Dr. V. Ashok Kumar, Hindi Department Head of Brennan College,

Thalassery. The chief guest spoke on ‘Importance of Hindi Day’ and did the prize

distribution.

A one day camp was conducted in connection with national seminar. Students presented a

drama on Premchand’s story Dakur ka kua and dance programmes. Kathakali was performed

by Devamanasa.

28th March, 2016:

Dr.M Aravindan, Hindi Department Head was given a memorable send-off on his

Retirement. The function was inaugurated by Dr P V Premavalli. Hindi Department Head

presided over the function. Dr. Jnaneswari, Dr. Bindu C.C., Dr. Sindhu A., Sree.

Padmanabhan Kavumbayi and Vaishnav spoke on the occasion. Prof. K. V. Unnikrishnan

delivered the Welcome Address and Dr. Preethi K. K. proposed Vote of Thanks.

16th June 2014:

The Open Defence of PhD thesis done by Smt. Shreeja T. Krishnan under the guideship

of College Principal Dr. Balakrishnan was conducted . Dr. Prameela K. P. from Sanskrit

University presided over the Open Defense.

The Open Defense of PhD thesis done by Gopika K. K. under the guide ship of Dr. M.

Aravindhan was held at the College Seminar Hall. Dr. R. Sasidharan, Hindi Department

Head, CUSAT presided over the Open Defense.

19-25 January, 2015:

As a part of Aureo’15, golden jubilee celebrations of Payyanur College, Hindi department put

up a stall which aroused the interest of all. Alphabet tree, puzzle, books by renowned Hindi

writers, their photographs, translated works, writings and recordings in Hindi by some like

Mahatma Gandhi and Madhan Mohan Malavya were displayed in the educational exhibition.

Display of language and clothing of people all over India, celebration of Holi, and the food

stall put up by Hindi department students drew appreciation from the people as well as the

media.

12th February, 2015:

Hindi and Functional Hindi Associations were inaugurated by Prof. K. Janardhanan, the

former Head of Hindi Department. The function was presided over by Dr. M. Aravindhan,

Head of Hindi Department. Meenu K. P., Hindi Association Secretary delivered the Welcome

Address and Ullas K., Functional Hindi Association Secretary proposed the Vote of Thanks.

28th March, 2015:

Dr. P. Balakrishnan, Principal and former Hindi Department Head was given a memorable

send-off on his Retirement. The function was inaugurated by Sree. Ramachandran master,

President of Payyanur Educational Society. He honored Dr. P. Balakrishnan with ponnaada.

Dr. M. Aravindhan, Hindi Department Head presided over the function. Dr. Jnaneswari, Dr.

Bindu C. C., Dr. Sindhu A., Sree. Padmanabhan Kavumbayi and Vaishnav spoke on the

occasion. Prof. K. V. Unnikrishnan delivered the Welcome Address and Dr. Preethi K. K.

proposed Vote of Thanks.

2013 JUNE TO 2014 MARCH

31st July 2013:

A seminar was conducted as a part of monthly programs held by Hindi Department. The

occasion was graced by the presence of Dr. P. Pavithran, Associate Professor in

Malayalam from Kalady Sree Sankaracharya University, Kaladi Centre, who gave a talk on

the topic "Literature and Aesthetics"

2013 August 16:

Monthly programmes second talk was on the topic literature and Marxian aesthetics. The

class was taken by Dr. Sunil P Eleyidam, Associated Professor, and Sree Sankaracharya

University of Sanskrit

16th September 2013:

As a part of Hindi Day Celebrations, the department of Hindi conducted inter-departmental

competitions on Hindi Recitation, Versification, Essay Writing and Hindi Literature Quiz.

The program was appreciable due to student’s participation.

February 2014:

Hindi and Functional Hindi Department Associations were inaugurated by Dr. Manu

from Payyanur Regional Centre of Sanskrit University.

11th

March 2014:

Open Defence of the PhD thesis by Dhanya K. P. under the guidance of Hindi Department

Head Dr. Balakrishnan was conducted in the College Seminar Hall. Dr. Latha from

Women's College, Trivandrum presided over the Open Defence.

20th

& 21st of March, 2014:

A National Seminar on "The Various Dimensions of Hindi Literature after 1980" was held

as a part of farewell ceremony organized for Sri. K. Janardhanan, Associate Professor of

Hindi Department. Scholars including Dr. Virendramohan (Sagar University, Madhya

Pradesh), Dr. T. N. Vishwambaran ( Former Hindi Department Head, Calicut University), Dr.

Raveendran Mavungal (Kerala Varma College, Thrissur), Dr. P. Ravi (Sanskrit University),

Dr.V.T.V.Mohanan (Sir Syed College, Taliparamba) and Dr. Sumith Poduval ( Bank of

Baroda ) presented papers on various subjects. The seminar was inaugurated by Dr.

Balachandran Keezhoth, Registrar, Kannur University.

On 21st of March 2014 at 1.30 pm, Sree K. Janardhanan, Associate Professor of Hindi

Department was given a memorable send-off at his Retirement. Dr. T. N. Vishwambaran

was the chief guest and the College Principal Sri. Jayarajan presided over the function.

Several teachers and students from other departments as well as alumni of Hindi department

took part and spoke on the occasion. Dr. M. Aravindhan delivered the Welcome Address and

Dr. P. Balakrishnan proposed the Vote of Thanks.

To understand the efficiency of the students on the topic ‘journalism’ Functional Hindi

students of 2014 made Hindi news papers under the guidance of Dr. Mini AR. It was a group

activity of students and they got sufficient knowledge about page making, page set up, news

collection and news making.

14th September 2012:

As a part of Hindi Day Celebrations, the department of Hindi conducted inter-departmental

competitions on Hindi Recitation, Versification, Essay Writing and Hindi Literature Quiz.

The program was appreciable due to student’s participation. Kripina. N B,Seena mol R P,

Merlin J Michael, Sjina K P ,Aswani K V ,Reshmi A V won the prize.

The department being the University Hindi Research Centre, Srimati Rathika, Srimati

Parveena kumari and Srimati Gyaneswari were awarded the doctorate degree on the day.

8th of March 2013, Friday

Hindi and Functional Hindi department Associations were inaugurated by Dr.

Sudharma, Hindi department Head, Payyanur Regional Centre, Sree Sankaracharya

University. The function was presided over by Dr. P. Balakrishnan, Head of Hindi

Department. Sree. K. Janardhanan, Dr. M. Aravindhan and College Vice Chairman

Bhanupriya gave away the felicitations which were followed by cultural programs of the

students.
