A “phony.” Usually used to describe a person who’s talk is bigger than action; used to describe a braggart.
With a collection of over 70,000 pieces of art ranging from Asian, modern,
contemporary, European and western American art, the Denver Art
Museum is one of the largest art museums between Chicago and the West Coast.
The Denver Artists’ Club founded the Denver Art Museum in 1893. Over the years, there
have been numerous homes for the museum, from a downtown mansion to a public
library, as well as a section of the Denver City and County Building. Galleries have been
opened on 14th Avenue Parkway in 1949, and a center for children’s art activities was added
in the early 1950s. The museum offers a vast array of exhibitions ranging from cultures
around the world.
