To define DMMI’s returnable packaging requirements.

DMMI’s goal is to minimize the amount of packaging in the system by:
• Minimizing inventories at DMMI and the supplier.• Maximizing turns.
A) Container Requirements
• Containers must be designed for manual handling.• * Two cardholders per container are required, on adjacent sides. Cardholders must be 8.75” x 4.25”. Molded polypropylene cardholders or open-top vinyl holders are acceptable. Side-load cardholders are prohibited.• Containers must cube 48” x 45” pallet, specialty totes must be approved by DMMI.• Use of lids is prohibited, unless otherwise specified by DMMI for part quality.• Container weight cannot exceed 30 pounds when full.• Part orientation in tote should be simple, consistent, avoiding excessive reach, and
not exceeding the tote nesting line (see photo).• Nesting, if applicable, must be done in such a way that it will be maintained
during shipping , see photo.

Denso owned containers will be identified with a unique pkg. code: For example: TMM-SPC-LS4D-DA TMM = Customer code (only used for A-Parts) SPC = Supplier code LS4D = Type of container; 4D = size of container DA = Designates type of dunnage (only used if needed)
Supplier-owned containers must be marked with supplier name and plant location.

C) Dunnage Requirements• Returnable material should be used.• Material must be recyclable.• Individual parts cannot be bagged or wrapped unless otherwise specified.• Multiple layers of dunnage in container is prohibited unless, otherwise specified.• Recycled content must not exceed 50%, unless certified regrind is used.

D) Pallet Requirements• Pallets must be returnable.• * If returnable pallets are not available the use of wood pallets is acceptable.
Cardboard lids would be required in this situation.• Must be AIAG standard 48” x 45”, with standard fork openings.• Must be four-way entry.• Vac-tray style pallets must be designed to support the weight of the product.• Recycled content must not exceed 50%, unless certified regrind is used.• Pallet skids cannot exceed 35 lbs. unless approved by DMMI.• Supplier owned pallets must be marked with supplier name and plant location.
