DENMARK

Denmark is located in the north of Europe.It has a south border with Germany. 

It borders both the North Sea to the west and the Baltic Sea to the east.

The capital city of Denmark is Copenhagen. It has a population of  1,246,611

Denmark´s flag

The Flag of Denmark, the Dannebrog, is red with a white Scandinavian cross. It is the oldest flag in the entire world. The flag is supposed to have fallen from the sky during a battle in 1219 in Estonia. The Danes were about to lose the battle when this sign from above gave the warriors new energy and made them win. The Dannebrog of 1219 was most like a crusade banner - the war in 1219 was a crusade against the Estonians, who were not Christians.

The large coat sof arms comprise symbols representing all parts of Danish Kingdom. In the lower part the three crowns represents Sweden, the polar bear represents Greenland and the ram represents the Faroe Islands. The two lions in the upper right side represents the principality of Slesvig. Until 1972, it also included other symbols representing principalities in Germany and parts of present day Sweden that used to be ruled by the Danish king.

The sport more practiced is the football and the tennis. Danish player Caroline Wozniacki is the current No. 6 of the WTA world rankings (Tennis).

Religions

Most Danes are Christians.

CuriositisThe famous writer Hans Christian Andersen is from Denmark, he wrote "The Little Mermaid" . And a famous singer is Emmilie de Forest , who won Eurovision 2013, some of her songs are “Rainmaker " and “Only Teardrops”
