We work in serious businesses.
We must train people seriously.
Games for safety-critical training?
Well …
Some games are pure fun, not serious.
Some games are way too serious, not fun.
Is it a game? Is it serious or fun?
Some games can be … serious AND fun!
serious I play games.
I confess.
serious I play games.
serious I play games.
serious I play games.
serious I play games.
serious I play games.
I like games.
But … not everyone shares my opinion! (*gasp*)
Are you a ‘hater’?
What do ‘games’ mean to you?
Frivolous?
Lightweight?
Does it depend on:
• Your age (generation)?
• Your mindset?
• The game (quality, style, subject etc.)?
• Baby Boomer
• Gen X
• Gen Y
• Gen Z (Millenial)
How do I know?
Whether games are created to be fun or not …
• Millenials will be in the workforce in 4 years time
• They expect to be ‘entertained’
• Keep up!
Games must be useful
• Training value
• Learning outcomes
• Competency elements
• Familiarisation
• ‘Training by stealth’
