Transition

• Any event or non-event that results in changed relationships, routines, assumptions, and roles. Schlossberg

• Perception plays a key role in transition as defined by the person experiencing it.

• In order to make meaning we must consider type of transition, purpose, context and impact

What are the secrets to creating a healthy and successful life? Certainly managing transitions successfully helps.

The specifics vary from one situation to the next. But I think you'll agree that the solution to almost every challenge can be discovered by examining our actions.

I suggest beginning with the following eight areas to guide change success:

1. Know your reasons. (what matters? my choice? what do I want to change?

2. Consider the outcome. (know what you want exactly)

3. Create priorities. (how bad do I want it? what’s my emotional investment)

4. Be realistic. (do I believe I can do it?)

5. *Commit. (self discipline-all in)

6. Assemble the tools you need for success.

(human/non-human)

7. Take Action. (notice results)

8. Transition is a process; adapt as needed. (stay positive, flexible and resilient)
