His  father  was    Vlad  II  Dracul  and  his  mother  was  a  Transylvanian  noble  woman.

He  was  married  three  times  and  had  five  children,  four  boys  and  a  girl  of  three  marriages:  Radu  and  Vlad  from  his  first  marriage,  Michael  and  Mihnea  the  Bad  from  the  second,  and  Zaleska    from  his    third  wife.

Vlad  Tepes  became  famous  by  his  severity  and  because  he  used  to  have  his  enemies  impaled.  The  merchants  of  Brasov,  characterized  his    methods  as    cruel  and    demonic  .

Vlad  was  assassinated  in  1476.The  body  was  decapitated  and  his  head  was  sent  in  a  bowl  full  of  honey  to  Istanbul.

It  is  not  known  where  his  body  was  buried.  It  was  assumed  that  he  was  buried  at  Snagov  Monastery,  or  Comana  Monastery,  which  he  built.

Origin  of  "Dracula"  and  the  nickname  "Tepes".

His  father,  Vlad  Dracul,  was  let  into  the  Order  of  the  Dragon,  an  order  that  can  be  compared  with  that  of  the  Knights  of  Malta,  and  was  called  Dracul.  In  his  turn,  Vlad  will  be  knighted  as  a  member  of  the  Order  of  the  Dragon  in  1431.

The  name  Vlad  the  Impaler  was  given  to  him  since  the  XVth  century  because  of  his  practice  of  impaling  as  form  of  punishment
