The Democratic Women of North Carolina invite you to join us for our 57th Annual State
Convention, September 22-24, 2017, in Winston-Salem at the Hawthorne Inn & Conference Center. With over 3,000 members and constantly growing, we are excited to offer a platform at this year’s Convention for us to empower and inspire our membership to work to elect as well as re-elect Democrats at every level and turn North Carolina BLUE.
The Democratic Women of Forsyth County have been working diligently to make this year’s Convention the best one ever.
Women Will is our Convention theme and we know that women will … lead by example, stand tall for justice, fight for the rights of women, VOTE, and so much more.

Convention Attendance Award: This award is determined by
the number of convention attendees from your chapter.
STARS: Recipients are deserving individuals who are
sponsored by their DW chapter or county party in recognition of
their outstanding work in energizing the party and helping elect
Democrats. Stars will be recognized Saturday night with a
certificate, a pin, and a picture in the evening’s commemorative
program. Deadline is August 21. Star forms can be downloaded
from www.democraticwomenofnc.org.
Silent Auction: Each DW chapter is asked to bring a gift
basket or other item(s) worth at least $50.00 for the Silent
Auction. This year, pick a “s-hero” and build a basket around
her. We will recognize the chapter whose item brings in the
highest bid.
DWNC Store: Visit our store for reasonably priced political
and patriotic jewelry, buttons, and bumper stickers. We also
have pins, garden flags, banners, hats, stationary bearing the
DWNC logo. Stock up on DW items to show your pride, reward
your hard working chapter members, or to thank your Democratic
speakers at your meetings.
Democratic Woman of the Year: The nominees are active
members of the Democratic Women in good standing for a
minimum of five years who have served Democratic Women
at the county, district and state level and/or served in an
elected or appointed leadership role. Deadline for Woman of
the Year submissions is August 11. Form available

Betty Ray McCain Communication Award: For chapter communications and publicizing the chapter’s activities to the community by such communications as email, web sites, newsletters, membership brochures, flyers, and press releases. All chapters are encouraged to submit examples of their communications to 3rd Vice President Elizabeth Goodwin. 4943 Park Rd #134, Charlotte, NC 28209 or [email protected] by August 11.

For our 2017 Women Will Community Outreach, the Democratic Women of North Carolina is joining forces with the Diaper Bank of North Carolina..
Please work with your local Democratic Women’s chapter to help the DWNC show that Democratic
Women Will lead the way in supporting the Diaper Bank of North Carolina ‘s vision: “Every family in
North Carolina will have access to basic necessities to support their dignity, health, and quality of life.”
The Diaper Bank of North Carolina (DBNC) works to ensure that families receive hygiene products they need by working with established family-support organizations to distribute diapers to low-income families. Using these existing networks, DBNC can efficiently get diapers to those in greatest need.
The DWNC is asking each chapter to support this effort by donating cash, a check or money order made payable to the Diaper Bank of NC at the Convention.
