Web enabled CAD/CAM and CAE software has features like
Design & Drafting, Surface Modeling, Solid Modeling, CAD Data Exchange
Collaborative i.e multiple designers can work on the design concurrently across a network
Reverse Engineering, Basic Numerical Control (NC) Simulation,

Installing CollabCAD
Installing CollabCAD on Windows:
– at least 65 MB of free disk space in the C:\TEMP directory. (the installation will not proceed if this is not available)
– Installation would require around 145 MB.
Installing CollabCAD on Linux:– Available in .tgz format. At least 47 MB free disk space on
the /tmp file system in order to install CollabCAD. (the installer will not proceed if this is not available)
– Installation would require around 140 - 150 MB.
Design and Drafting:- Provides facilities to build and editentities in virtual 3D space using basic geometry such as lines,arcs, and conic sections. The model-tree enables faster andeasier editing.
Surface Modeling: Various surface types such as Ruled, B-Spline and Bezier can be utilized in the generation of complex surfaces.
Solid Modeling: Solid primitives such as Cones, Cylinders,Spheres and Boxes facilitate the construction of complex solidsby various methods. Feature based part modeling capabilitiessuch as Extrusions, Revolutions, Pipe,etc. are also included foreffective modeling.

Collaborative Design:-
CollabCAD can be used as a unique collaborative tool whereinseveral designers can access and work on a common workspaceacross a network. Collaborative design work is enabled with aset of communication tools including audio / videoconferencing.
Database Connectivity:-
CollabCAD offers the facility to integrate standard tables anddatabases such as Standard Part Lists (SPL) and ToleranceCharts (Tolerance Manager). The user can attach propertiesfrom a database ( PostgreSQL) to geometric entities.
Scripting and Customization:-
CollabCAD adds an edge to its design package by enabling Easy-to-use Jython scripting. The script file can be modified to achievechanges in the CAD model. Even the user-interface can becustomized using the scripting according to individual preferences.
Data Exchange:-
Standard Data Exchange formats (like XML, STEP, IGES, VRML,STL, etc.) are supported by CollabCAD thereby reducing loss ofdata during translation.

VRML Preview: -With easily available plugins, models can be viewed on standard browsers like IE, Netscape, etc.

Reverse Engineering :-
CollabCAD can be applied in the reverse engineering field since itallows for surface generation from point-clouds.
