What Is Bee Propolis?Propolis is a sticky substance that bees make which is better known as "bee glue". The process begins when an expert propolis-making bee gathers resin from cone-producing evergreen trees or from the buds of trees. The bee will gather this sticky sap when the proper weather makes it pliable and soft. After the bee gathers enough, he blends the resin with wax flakes that he stores in the gland of his abdomen. After the bee has shaped it into a ball, he tucks it into the pollen basket that is attached to his leg. The bee will continue until the basket is full, then take it back to the hive. At this point, the propolis is unloaded and used to patch up holes in the hive. Bees also use propolis as an antiseptic barrier covering invaders with the sticky substance to prevent hive contamination.Propolis As A Natural AntisepticHumans have been using this as an antiseptic since the times of ancient Egypt. Applying propolis to wounds greatly improved healing and throughout the centuries, this substance has been shown to have other healing properties as well. In the last several decades, health practitioners have found even more positive uses for propolis as a natural supplement. Propolis has been shown to increase the effects of other antibiotics like penicillin and can also strengthen the immune system. Studies are now being done to see if propolis can become an effective treatment for the prevention of certain types of cancer.Propolis Contains Powerful AntioxidantsAs far as supplements go, what exactly are people using propolis for? Some people simply take it as a nutritional supplement in capsule form for the healthy ingredients it contains. It's rich in amino acids, bioflavonoids, minerals and vitamins. Bioflavonoids are a powerful antioxidant with great health benefits to the immune system and help fight the free radicals that damage healthy red blood cells. The properties contained in propolis also promote better circulation. Some users have marveled at the increased vitality generated by taking this supplement. Propolos has also been known to help grow more beautiful hair and nails. In natural medicine, propolis is used to relieve the symptoms of inflammations. It is also used as a way to treat superficial wounds like third-degree burns, scalds and ulcers of the skin. Practitioners also use it for people who have cataracts and viral diseases. In the natural medicine industry, propolis is called the great healer.

ROYALL JELLYUnlike honey, Royal Jelly is not collected by the honey bees from flowers. It is a creamy white or pale yellowish substance specially created by worker bees (also referred to as nurses), which mix honey and bee pollen with enzymes in the glands of their throats to produce the extraordinary food. All bee larvae are fed royal jelly mouth to mouth by the nurse worker bee for the first three or four days after hatching. The first queen to emerge after the mother queen departs with the swarm will destroy the others. If two or more queen candidates emerge at the same time, they fight to the death just to rule. The queen eats nothing but this royal perfect food throughout her adult life, and can live eight to 10 times as long as the lowly worker bee, which typically has a lifespan of only about 2-3 months. It can take up to 1,000 larvae to produce a single pound of royal jelly. After extraction, this

rare fluid is immediately refrigerated or freeze-dried to prevent spoilage. Royal Jelly, also often called "milk of bees" by many people, cannot be duplicated in any laboratory due to its complex chemical structure and is an expensive item on the shelf, but it seems to have become increasingly more and more popular as a beauty bee product Precious and rare, and treasured as a beauty secret of royalty, this special "jelly" is believed to be able to nourish the body on the inside and revitalizes it on the outside as well. More and more girls are beginning to talk about what this stuff is as its benefits are extensively associated with healthier skinand hair and more youthful appearance. It is not only used in dietary supplements, but also as additions to skin lotions, creams and cosmetics. Rich in estradiol, a major estrogen functioning as the primary female sex hormone, this natural substance is commonly known to be effective in treating women who have problems with their menstruation such as abnormal cycle, pain, discomfort, and fatigue.

FRESH POLLENBee Pollen is made by honeybees, and is the food of the young bee. It is considered one of nature's most completely nourishing foods as it contains nearly all nutrients required by humans. Bee-gathered pollens are rich in proteins (approximately 40% protein), free amino acids, vitamins, including B-complex, and folic acid.

Bee pollen is a complete food and contains many elements that products of animal origin do not possess. Bee pollen is richer in proteins than any animal source. It contains more amino acids than beef, eggs, or cheese of equal weight. About half of its protein is in the form of free amino acids that are ready to be used directly by the body.

HONEYCOMB

What is honeycomb? Like honey, honeycomb is made by honeybees in their hives. Both substances get their start as nectar from flowers, which the honeybees transform into honey through a process of partial digestion and regurgitation. The honey can then be turned into honeycomb, which is used to store the bees’ eggs, larvae, pollen and honey.

Honeycomb that you see for sale is fresh, brand new comb that has just been made by the bees and is full of honey, not cocoons. The honey is not removed from the waxy cells, and is instead sold intact as “comb honey” to be spread on bread, muffins and pastries. With minimal processing and maximum taste, honeycomb is a health store favorite, and finding natural comb honey is easier than ever. Spread it on your favorite breakfast toast, enjoy on its own, or free honeycomb to prevent crystallization and keep it fresh for months on end. One of nature’s most toothsome gifts, honeycomb has always been an important ingredient on human menus and will no doubt continue to sweeten our lives and our desserts.

Greek Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Greek extra virgin olive oil, in comparison with the rest of the extra virgin olive oils in the market, has the lowest acidity (approximately 0.5%), way below the minimum 0.9% setup from the EU and US authorities. Consuming Greek olive oil is one of the easiest single choices you can make to take control of your health and of your family.

Olive oil is now a staple of the Greek diet and is responsible for the so called “Greek paradox” – the odd (but true!) idea that a diet rich in high quality fats can actually keep you healthy. Improve your health by learning ways of incorporating Greek extra virgin olive oil into your diet today.

St. John’s Sword oil or Balsam ExtractHealth Benefits of St. John’s WortAnti-Depressant Qualities: Perhaps the most well-known effect of St. John’s Wort is its anti-depressant nature. It has been widely used to relieve symptoms of depression for generations, and is now a popular natural solution that doctors and psychiatrists often prescribe to their patients. St. John’s Wort contains a rare combination of antidepressant chemicals that inhibit or delay the reuptake of certain neurotransmitters like serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine, thereby giving out bodies additional energy and pleasure, chasing away depressive symptoms.

Other Mental Effects: This quality extends past depression, despite that being the most publicized benefit, to help people suffering from anxiety and mood swings as wellMenopausal Mood Swings: There are two distinct periods in feminine sexual health that can be challenging in terms of mood swings; pre-menstrual syndrome and menopause. St. John’s Wort is widely recommended for women in both of these periods of their life, as the chemical constituents have been shown to reduce mood swings and anxiety in menopausal women, and also reduce the severity of cramping and pre-menstrual irritation and depression.Antiviral Agent: New research has recently come to light that St. John’s Wort has certain antiviral capabilities, including the prevention or reduction of risk for AIDS, hepatitis, and other serious viral conditions. Anti-Inflammatory Agent: The soothing nature of St. John’s Wort and the rich concentration of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds make it perfect for easing the aching pains of arthritis, in addition to gout, joint discomfort, and muscle aches. Just as it helps ease inflammation on the skin and in the gut, St. John’s Wort also lowers inflammation in the cardiovascular system, thereby helping to lower blood pressure and decrease stress on the heart.Skin Treatment: If you use St. John’s Wort in topical application in the form of a salve or tincture, it can speed the healing process of burns, bruises, and scrape by stimulating circulation of oxygenated blood to those skin cells so that repairs can begin.

Some of the main benefits of beeswax in skin care are as under:Acne: The effectiveness of beeswax for acne treatment and control is well known. It has strong antiseptic, healing, and anti-inflammatory properties that are effective in the treatment of acne. Beeswax contains vitamin A, which is an added advantage in the treatment of acne. It is also an excellent skin softener and emollient that helps maintain a smooth skin texture after acne elimination. A combination of non-comedogenic skin care products, diet, and exercise is the best way to control and prevent acne.Dry skin: The ability of beeswax to lock in moisture has made it an important ingredient in a variety of lotions and creams for treating dry skin. In addition, its rich vitamin A content and emollient properties help in the healthy development of skin

cells. It is a natural moisturizer that not only treats dry skin, but also helps prevent it. You can combine beeswax with almond oil and a few drops of vitamin E oil to prepare a homemade remedy for dry skin.Eczema: Beeswax is a great treatment for skin problems like eczema that cause an itchy skin rash. Eczema is a common skin problem especially during the colder months that results in extremely dry skin. A mixture of beeswax, olive oil, and honey is effective in relieving the symptoms of eczema as well as psoriasis. The medicinal properties of beeswax help in reducing eczema inflammation and prevent further infection. Stretch marks: Stretch marks are a common complaint especially after pregnancy or because of weight gain or weight loss. You can combine beeswax with wheat germ oil, vitamin E oil, apricot kernel oil, and cocoa butter to prepare a natural remedy for preventing and treating stretch marks.

Hippophae rhamnoides, also known as sea buckthorn, is a member of the Elaeagnaceae family. It germinates as wild large shrub in Eurasia; oil of its fruits is extracted by crushing, no chemicals added. According to biochemical analysis made, Hippophae oil contains more than 190 nutrients and organic substances.

HIPPOFAES

Antioxidant effectVarious in vitro and in vivo studies clearly demonstrate that H. rhamnoides L. has antioxidant activity. The leaf extract of this plant protects significantly male albino rats from chromium induced oxidative injury. Hexane extract of H. rhamnoides L. fruits has shown to inhibit nicotine-induced oxidative stress in rat erythrocytes. However, it could not prevent nicotine-induced oxidative stress in the brain of these rats, probably because it could not have been diffused to the rat brain, so as to exert its antioxidant effect. Hexane extract of H. rhamnoides L. has also prevented the depletion of the most abundant thiol, glutathione, in gastric tissue of ethanol-administered rats.Immunomodulatory effectsThe leaf extract of sea buckthorn has significant immunomodulatory activity and specifically activates the cell-mediated immune response. In chromium-induced immuno-suppressed animals, the leaf extract of sea buckthorn significantly inhibited chromium-induced reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation and maintained the cell size identical to that of control cells. In addition, the leaf extract (100 μg/ ml) alone, stimulated IL-2 and γ-IFN production, and also inhibited chromium-induced decline in IL-2 and γ-IFN production; however, it did not change IL-4 production.Cardiovascular diseaseH. rhamnoeides is used as anti-cardiovascular medicine. The supplementation of H. rhamnoides L. juice (with vitamin C, alpha-tocopherol, beta-carotene and flavonoids) increased plasma HDL-cholesterol and triacylglycerol concentrations by 20% and 17%, respectively, in healthy male volunteers. In addition, supplementation resulted in a moderate decrease in the susceptibility of LDL-C to oxidation in these subjects.CancerHippophae alcohol extract containing mainly flavonoids is reported to protect bone marrow from damage due to radiation; it might also help bone marrow cells recover faster. In an animal model, mice fed with sea buckthorn oil, had their hemopoietic system recovered faster after high dose chemotherapy. Antitumor effects of fruit juice and seed oil, and prevention of aminopyrine-induced tumour production in rats, by juice of H. rhamnoides L., have been reported.Antiulcerogenic effectCurative and preventive effects of H. rhamnoides L. against experimental gastric ulcers in rats have been reported by various studies. Hexane extract from H. rhamnoides fruits have demonstrated antiulcerogenic effects on indomethacin- and stress-induced ulcer models, and on ethanol-induced gastric lesion. Acceleration of healing process of acetic acid-induced gastric ulcer, by oils of CO 2

– extract from the seeds and pulp of Hippophae rhamnoides L., has also been reported.Dermatological effectsBeneficial effect of H. rhamnoides L. in dermatological disorders is known. Of the 4 months oral supplementation of pulp and seed oils in patients with atopic dermatitis, improvement in dermatitis was followed only in pulp oil supplemented group.Effects on liver injuryClinical effects of H. rhamnoides L. oil on liver fibrosis have also been tested recently. The oil treatment has also notably shortened the duration for normalization of aminotransferases. The results suggest that seed oil of H. rhamnoides L. may also be a useful for prevention and treatment of liver diseases.

Active compoundsHippophae rhamnoides contains vitamin C, alpha-tocopherol, large amount of carotenoids and vitamin E, mineral elements (K, Na, Mg, Ca, Fe, Zn, Se), monosaccharides sugars, organic acids, free amino-acids, volatile compounds, various flavonoids (quercetin, myricetin and kaempferol), fatty acids, triacylglycerol, glycerolphospholipids, phytosterols, zeaxanthin esters, and phelonic compounds. Due to its compounds, H. rhamnoides manifests various beneficial actions: antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antitumoral, hepato-protective, and immuno-modulatory.
