East Ardsley Art Club would like to welcome new members. We meet every Wednesday in term

time from 7 - 9 p.m. in St. Michael's church hall, East Ardsley. We have members of all abilities, even complete beginners, who work mostly in watercolour or coloured pencil, and have regular demonstrations from

ROBIN HOOD RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION

Points of Meeting held on Thursday, 8 January 2015LCC HIGHWAYSJT addressed the Members attending and gave the outcome of the meeting held with Members of RHRA, Cllr Karen Renshaw and Leeds City Council Highways. This followed the trial that was carried out on Copley Lane. The Highways Officer stated that at this point in time there were no definitive recommendations. These would be made available as and when the results of the trial were looked at which would then indicate what if any measures needed to be taken. He also stated that no decisions would be made to any alterations to the road network until such time as a full consultation was held with all local residents, Police and Local Councillors. CRIMETwo burglaries to dwellings. One Fairfield Gardens – man arrested and sent back to prison. Wakefield Road, 2 bikes stolen. Investigations on-going. Five Burglaries others, sheds etc. Two in Hopefield Croft, one Leeds Road, two Middleton Avenue. Local Haulage yard broken into. There were a number of domestic related of-fences. Cannabis plants found Danby Court. Vehicle Registration plates removed from car in Hopefield Croft and damage to a vehicle which was a targeted incident. Traffic sign removed from Bus Stop area on Leadwell Lane which stated “No Stopping”. Highways are aware and will replace. Parking adjacent to One Stop Shop, Leadwell Lane.A general discussion took place regarding the traffic on Leadwell Lane. This had been impacted due to 2 signs being removed, one from the road adjacent to the One Stop which restricted parking and one from the Bus Stop which stated “no stopping”. Many Members voiced their concerns and opinions in respect of this. There were many suggestions made by Members present to try and rectify the traffic problems. It was agreed whatever measures are to be put into place they would be ineffective unless enforced. A Member asked if the One Stop Shop could adopt the same system as the Tesco store in Outwood whereby they place cones to allow delivery vehicles to park directly outside. PC Rowlinson agreed to speak to the Management of One Stop. It was agreed that the only way forward was for a meeting to be convened between LCC Highways, the Police, local Councillors and members of the community.ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICESKR stated that David Gommersall has now been moved to the City Centre. She said she would contact the new Environmental Officer for this area with an invite to attend the next meeting. It was noted that the land on the A61 is still in obeyance regarding ownership and this must be taken up by the new Environmental Officer. COUNCIL MATTERS.It has been reported that young people leaving school have difficulties writing good CVs. KR is trying to identify what the scale of the problem is and if it applies to all schools or is limited to individual schools. Com-munity Safety Information Booklets were handed to Members attending. A planning application had been submitted on the Leeds Road to demolish a shop/stables and erect residential properties. Reaching out to elderly and vulnerable people and issuing Wellbeing Packs via local community groups. New Fire Station in Rothwell opening soon. An invitation will be sent for a Member from the Fire Services to attend the meeting in March. New development plans are now available on the internet. A vote of thanks was recorded to Cllr Karen Renshaw and Cllr Lisa Mulherin for all the support and hard work given to the group through the previous year. JULIE HOLMES, TENANT INVOLVEMENT OFFICER, HOUSING LEEDS.The Housing Advisory Panel have now ordered the noticeboard which is destined to be placed outside the Community Centre, Leadwell Lane. The new Housing Manager is Daniel Massey and it is hoped he will attend the February meeting. There are still Crime Prevention Packs and Wellbeing Packs available for isolated and vulnerable residents. Doctors and Health Centres have been asked to work in conjunction with LCC to identify these people. A Member asked why the noticeboard was being located in the Community Centre. He asked if this could be placed more centrally in Robin Hood as there is already one on Copley Lane. Julie asked the Committee to look at areas that were LCC controlled and give a suggested site at the next meeting. A vote of thanks was recorded for all the hard work Julie did during the previous year. CHRISTMAS EVENTA Member stated that he had many people stating how well the Christmas Event was run. JT stated that as far as we were concerned it was a huge success and gave her thanks to all Volunteers. Rothwell Haigh Road Infant School An amazing number of shoe boxes were collected at Rothwell Haigh Road Infant School recently for the international relief project ‘Operation Christmas Child’, a

venture generously embraced by the school community each year. 145 boxes from Rothwell Haigh Road School are now on their way to make a

special difference to less privileged boys and girls in Kosovo. Every box will make a special difference to children who would otherwise not receive any kind of gift.

Pupils, parents and staff have been busy filling shoe boxes since October and were pleased to send 145 boxes, all of which were filled with basic provisions

and gifts to children in hospitals, orphanages, homeless shelters and impoverished neighbourhoods.

ISL Computers Ltd, Heckmondwike supported the project by kindly donating funds towards filling and transporting further boxes.

Louise Aston (Deputy Headteacher) who co-ordinates the yearly project in school said

“In 2013, 101 boxes were brought into school and I hoped we could exceed this amount. 145 boxes is a new record for our school and I am incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed towards this. 145 children will be a little happier because of our efforts.”
