The second academic session kicked off with the Orientation Day Ceremony held on the 23rd of March 2013. The school welcomed the new parents to the DPS Family and informed them of the School events held in the previous academic ses-sion. The parents got an opportunity to acquaint themselves with the school as well as the teachers of their wards. The school’s transport department spent time with each parents as they worked out the most suitable routes for the new admis-sions. Books and uniforms were made available on that day.

The school celebrated Earth Day on 23rd April, 2013. The event was marked by the presence of Dr. Prem C. Jain, Chair-man, Indian Green Building Council. Dr. Jain spoke on the im-portance of preserving the environment and stressed on the benefits of constructing Green Buildings across the country. The students presented a Street Play on the deteriorating environment – “Kaun hai Dhara ka Qatil”- and their impactful presentation forced the audience to think about their ecologi-cal footprints. The School Principal Mrs. Indira Kohli invited Dr. Jain to plant tulsi saplings so as to encourage one and all to be proactive protectors and preservers of the environment. The event was attended by the parents of senior students. ‘Udaan’- the school’s first magazine was released on this day.

Eid-Milap was celebrated in the school on 13th August 2013. The students of classes I and II presented a heart warming portrayal of the true spirit behind the Holy Islamic festival. The Chief Guest of the event was Hon. Justice Shri-Fakhruddin, former judge of High & Supreme Courts of India. The Guest of Honour was Mrs. Nora Chopra, senior journalist. Other eminent guests included- Mr. KabeerSiddiqui, CEO of Priyadarshini Group of Institutions, Mr. Yousuf Ansari, senior journalist and Mr. A. N. Dar, former Principal Scindia School, Gwalior and respected Maulviji. The parents, grandparents and parent rep Ms. PallavieAlhuwalia also graced the event. The students of classes I and II presented a bouquet of shows in full festive colours including a melodious Qawali, an engag-ing skit- Eidgah, and a foot tapping sufi dance. The Chief Guest Hon. Justice ShriFakhruddin was highly impressed by the show and was very generous in his praise for the students as well as the school.

The students of classes III to VIII showed their love and re-spect for their teachers by putting up a spectacular show on 5th September 2013. The programme comprised of several song and dance performances. The students’ admiration for their teachers was reflected in the adorable titles they gave to each faculty member.

Children’s Day was celebrated in the school on 14th No-vember, 2013. The students of classes III to VIII were in for a special show prepared and presented by their teachers. The students appreciated the School News, Comic Play, Quiz, Medley and the Dance performances presented by their teachers. They were especially heartened to see their teach-ers get into the students’ garb on the stage. Later chocolates were distributed among all the students as a small token of the immense affection we feel for them.

In association with SPIC MACAY, the school organised a Purulia Chhau dance performance on Thursday, 21st Novem-ber, 2013. The dance troupe led by Shri Chinibas Mahato set the stage on fire with their highly energetic portrayal of the “Ma-hishasur Vadh”. The tale of a demon’s fall at the hands of a goddess held the audi-ence enraptured. The 15 dancers were dressed in elaborate costumes including intricately designed colourful face masks and moved to the tunes of the dhol, shehnai and nagada. The event was at-tended by the student groups from neigh-bouring schools including DPS Greater Noida, DPS Indirapuram, Greater Valley School, Genesis Global School, Kothari International School, Step by Step School and The Shriram Millenium School. The students applauded the performance of the lion and the buffalo costumed danc-ers the most. The school’s principal Mrs. Indira Kohli welcomed all the guests and urged all the students to take keen inter-est in traditional Indian Art forms.
