Business Requirements to IT Capability Mapping

Business outcomes • High Quality. • Standard services in catalog • Business data analytics • IT security maintenance

IT capabilities • Ability to monitor and report on

infrastructure stack – wired and wireless. • Fixed service offerings with detailed

metrics. • Network Quality Policy QoS – Implement

a common QoS policy across campus, wired and wireless network.

• Security awareness - conduct security campains/student video learnings

• Security enforcement – Implement network admission control and security segmentation.

FUTURE TRANSITION STEPS

Enable endpoint classification and marking of Skype for Business voice, video and possibly sharing. Invoke WMM wireless queuing. Transition endpoints with legacy wireless standards.

Accept WMM on the AP/WLC. Transition 802.11abg access points to 802.11ac. Consider transitioning 802.11n access points to 802.11ac. Increase density thus decrease cellsizes.

Transition 100Mb access switches. Add multiple gigabit uplinks thus decrease oversubscription ratio.

Transition End of Life switches

Establish dedicated connectivity to realtime critical cloud providers with options for QoS

In good shape – align QoS configuration for voice/video with campus network infrastructure

Transforming current state to a future state supporting the business requirements will require changes

Recommendations per network area
