WHITE HAT

Deforestation is the process of removing/clearing a forest or huge quantities of trees where it is used for housing or agriculture.

Deforestation occurs all around the world where it has increased rapidly over the last 50 years.

It is a permanent destruction of forests.

About half of the worlds tropical forests have been cleared.

Deforestation is used to make more land for housing and the growing population in the world.

(Information + Facts)

The main cause why deforestation occurs is cattle ranching and land for small-scale agriculture.

Deforestation has increased due to the large demand for the need of timber products and land for agriculture.

We lose about 147 plants each day due to deforestation.

Forests covers about 30% of the worlds landmass.

Forest loss contributes to about 12 to 17 percent of the green house gases.

About 70 percent of the worlds animals and plants have lost their habitat from deforestation which can lead to extinction in the future.

Example of Deforestation

Deforestation will interfere with how the animals live and reproduce which is terrible for the wildlife growth in the world.

Clearing trees contributes in increasing the amount of global warming which therefore gives an atrocious effect to the population in the further future.

Oxygen from the forests are needed for our growing population and with the current rate of deforestation we will not have any existing forests 100 years later which will cause riots.

Methods of deforestation such as burning trees causes pollution in the air from all the smoke.

Creating roads to easily access the forests changes the environment and gives access to animal poachers.

Forests biomes are important for the animals and plants that are inhabited in the area.

The biomes offer us products and services such as wood and food which means we will lose all of this from deforestation.

Over 20% of the worlds oxygen is produced by the Amazon which means if we keep on clearing trees, there will not be enough oxygen for the huge population of residents in the world.

Clearing forests allow’s us to get the materials such as timber, paper, minerals and ores from the earths surface etc.

Deforestation enables the population to have more land which reduces the pressure of demand for the area needed for residents.

It also free’s up land for small-scale agriculture which create’s food production for the world.

With the area of cleared land used for cattle ranching, it provides the world with meat and wool from the livestock such as sheep or cattle.

To reduce the amount of deforestation occurring around the world, the world needs to recycle their products and reuse them to reduce the amount of trees needed for that product. For example, paper can be recycled and reused to reduce the amount of trees being cut down for paper production.

Deforestation for products and materials can also be reduced by creating an area made especially for clearing trees but in a sustainable amount of time, the trees can grow back and this process can be repeated.

Changing how consumers use their products from trees and substitute it with an alternative can reduce the amount of trees being cleared.
