The Municipal Inland Wetlands Agency Comprehensive Training Program is presented by the DEEP pursuant to the General Statutes of Connecticut section 22a-39, and is supported by the Center for Public Policy and Social Research (CPPSR) at Central Connecticut State University (CCSU).

DESCRIPTION: The training program consists of an interactive, multi-media, self-paced, online course offered through a CCSU website platform. The course is designed for new agency members and staff, or those seeking a refresher of their roles and responsibilities. Legal, administrative and scientific subjects relevant to municipal inland wetlands agency regulation will be presented. Participants will examine each section of the Connecticut Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Act, will review procedural topics such as ex-parte communication, will learn about wetland soils, and will become acquainted with maps and site plans. A DEEP issued certificate of program completion will be awarded to a participant after all course requirements are fulfilled. Completion of the comprehensive training program satisfies the training requirement for duly authorized agents per General Statutes of Connecticut section 22a-42a(c)(2).

IMPORTANT DETAILS: The Municipal Inland Wetlands Agency Comprehensive Training Program will be available for

registration from April 27, 2016 through November 1, 2016. Participants will have until November 15, 2016 to complete coursework. Registrants will receive a confirmation email and login/course instruction upon receipt of registration information AND payment. If a town or city is paying the registration fee by a purchase order, email confirmation will be sent upon receipt of registration information and the login/course instruction will be emailed separately upon receipt of payment. A voucher allowing one person to complete the training program at no cost has been mailed to each municipal inland wetlands agency. To receive complementary registration, the designated participant must include the original DEEP voucher with the mailed registration form, or use the voucher's code with online registration. Registration fees charged for the online course are refundable ONLY prior to November 1, 2016 AND if the registrant has not entered the online course.

CPPSR at CCSU provides access to university resources, a framework for participant registrations, and assists with program logistics.
