Not only did Dee Dee Boeckman and Ms Dreamy win the Golden trophy for Amateur Reining at the 2014 AQHA World Show. They also set a record score for the event, posting a 222 to best the reserve champion by three points!
Boeckmann, of Kingfisher, Oklahoma, topped the 36-en-try class to earn a Custom-designed gold trophy, courtesy of AQHA World Championship Show; Montana Silver-smiths trophy buckle, a specially designed logoed jacket and world champion patch, courtesy of Cripple Creek Out-erwear, a WeatherBeeta free-style blanket and 100 pounds of Nutrena feed.
Ms Dreamy is a 4-year-old sorrel mare by Magnum Chic Dream out of A Gal With A Gun by Colonels Smoking Gun. She was bred by Jana Leigh Simons of Aubrey, Texas.
Dee Dee bought her in February from Shelly Ries and is more than pleased with the purchase. “She likes her job and stays happy. She’s just a good-minded, athletic horse.”
When asked what she feels is the best part of reining by Larry Jo Starkey of the American Quarter Horse Journal, Boeckman was quick to answer that the best part of reining is the challenge. “It can humble you so fast! But it always keeps you coming back.”
The Reserve World Championship went to Samantha Roper on Tim Roper’s Big Crème Chic, a sorrel gelding by Big Chex To Cash out of Cremes Chic Olena. Samantha, from Hobart, Indiana, earned the Silver trophy and honors for breeder Carolyn Kupka, of Boulder, Colorado.
Finishing third was Dana Avila of Temecula, California on her red roan mare, One Smart Pepto (One Time Pepto X Smart Little Margie) bred by Keith and Lorelei Candee, also of Temecula. Dana scored 214.5.
In the Level 2 competition, the championship went to Kyndal Lauren Creswell of Washington, Oklahoma, showing Flashy Chrome Pistol. Second Place was Kristin Darnall-Titov of Santa Ana, California, showing Jac Bee Whiz with third going to Allysn Light of Oxford, North Carolina, showing The Fresno Fox.

Exhibitors who have their American Paint Horse As-sociation registration papers in order at the 2015 National Reining Breeders Classic can win custom-made Gist trophy buckles! The APHA and NRBC announced their new partnership in mid-November, and already plans are being made to help exhibitors prepare.
“We are so pleased to welcome the American Paint Horse Association to the NRBC,” said NRBC Secretary-Treasurer, Cheryl Magoteaux Cody. “The highest advanc-ing APHA-registered horse in all four divisions of both the Open and Non Pro Classic will receive buckles. Plus buckles will also go to the highest scoring APHA-registered horse in the Classic Challenge Open and Non Pro and the highest combined score in the Open, Non Pro, Rookie and Youth NRHA classes! That is a total of 14 buckles and we are thrilled at having APHA provide this additional oppor-tunity for our exhibitors.”
According to Kalyn Sanders, Director of Business De-velopment for the American Paint Horse Association, “the APHA is very excited to partner with one of the most premier reining events available! Paints are consistently among the top performers in reining competitions, and these Paint-specific awards are a great opportunity to showcase their accomplishments while giving owners and exhibitors another reason to become part of the APHA family.”
Paint entries at the NRBC are eligible for some im-portant additional benefits, according to Sanders. “If the
exhibitor/owner still needs to register his or her horse with APHA, they can save $15 by doing so online. Manuel Bonzano wins NRHA French Grand Prix Non Pro and Ann Fonck claims Markel French Futurity Snaffle Bit Open
The Finale of the Rein-ing at the Equita Lyon Western Horse Show, held October 29 - November 2, was the NRHA Grand Prix Non Pro, with $15,000 added. 2013 NRHA World Champion, Manuel Bon-zano, bested the 21 horse field riding Time To Mark Big, with a score of 222.
Nuith Linthorst took the reserve title with Just Miss Enterprise with a score of 220.5.
Austrian rider Tina Kunstner-Mantl, astride Nu Chexomatic, finished third with a score of 220.
The French Futurity Snaffle Bit Non Open, another high-light of the day, was divided into three levels. In Levels 2 and 3, it was the Swiss rider Evelyne Nepple who won with her Nu Jersey and a score of 213. Second in level 3 went to French rider Coline Devault riding Top Guna Del Cielo, scoring 209. Peter Pichler and Skeet Money Maker finished third with a score of 208.5.
In the Level 2, reserve went to Italian rider Markus Schopfer riding Willa Wimpy, with a score of 212.5. Peter Pichler took third place with Skeet Money Maker and a score of 208.5.
The Markel French Futurity Snaffle Bit Open Level 4 was won by Belgian rider Ann Fonck, riding CDs Ruby Shines, with a score of 217. This mare was bred in France by CDS Quarter Horses.
Gennaro Lendi claimed both second and third with Arc Jersey Out, with a score of 216.5 and Yellow Hen Gigolo
with a score of 216. In the Youth 13 & under, young Matteo Bonzano riding
Custom Big Chic, won with a score of 208.5. The Reserve Championship went to Nanina Staub and Golden Jac N Win, score 202.5 with third goint to Jayson Henri on Hang-ten Boggies Sari, for a score of 188.
Gina Maria won the Youth 14-18, riding Captain Igloo to a score of 211.5.
Cheyenne Narcy and Sweet Steppin Sam were second with a score of 211 and Estelle Sole took third place with RS Robindas Queen, with a score of 208.5.

There was a three-way tie for second place between Canadian rider Cody Sapergia, with his two horses, owned by Jacpoint Quarter Horses, the World Champion 2013 Nu Chexomatic, and Gotta Gold Chain, and German rider Nina Lill, riding GR Hug A Jewel owned by Vanety Korbus each scored 223.5.
Another great achievement occured during this NRHA Grand Prix Open, as Canadian rider Cody Sapergia became unofficially, an NRHA Million Dollar Rider!
The French Futurity Snaffle Bit Non Pro was composed with 3 Levels, all of them claimed by German rider Marina Becker riding her 3-year-old stallion Walla Whiz Crome, with a score of 212.
In the Levels 1 and 2, second place went to June Gobert, Belgian rider, riding Snap A Lady, with a score of 206.5. French rider Damien Liabeuf took third place with Whiz The Light, with a score of 204.
In the French Futurity Snaffle Bit Non Pro Level 4, Italian rider Andrea Castrucci finished second with Its Time To Skeet, scoring 211. June Gobert and Snap A Lady were third with a score of 206.5.
In the Equita Lady's Cup, the Dutch rider Anne Grether won, riding Wimpys Little Tejano, owned by Nancy Schmidt, with a score of 218.
Second place went to Nuith Linthorst, riding Just Miss Enterprise to a score of 214.5. Gina Maria finished third, scoring 212 on Guns M Oaks.

In the Futurity Bit Non Pro, with 11 entries, the Swiss rider Sabine Staub won both Levels 1 and 2, riding Don With Chrome to a score of 208.5. Sec-ond and third were the same for both Levels, with Gina de Pauw Reserve Champion on Snappy Girl scoring 204.5 and French rider Hervé Boadas scoring 204 on Umperial.
In the Level 4, Italian rider Andrea Castrucci became the French Futurity Bit Non Pro Cham-pion with Skeets Plays Drum, and a score of 211.5.
Damien Liabeuf and Whiz The Light were Reserve Champions with a score of 202.5. Third place went to Gina Maria and Captain Igloo, score 196.
The French Futurity Open, featuring 21 rid-ers, saw French rider Jeremy Vandenabeele winning both Levels 1 and 2, riding Rocky Lena Dream, owned by Sophie Pillet, to a score of 215. Champion, riding Gunnerlicious, owned by Steve Van-nietvelt and Gina de Pauw, with a score of 219.5. Grisha Ludwig became the Reserve Champion with Coeurs Little Tyke, owned by Hans Goerg Holzwarth, for a score of 219. He was also third with his second horse, Lil Smokeing Gun, owned by de Bruin Reining Horses, with a score of 218.
French rider Béa-trice Couvreur won the Limited and the Intermediate Non Pro, run concurrently or “class in class.” She was riding her horse The Ninja Kid and they scored 214.
Second place went to Aniek Hagelaars and FS Rio Good Gunner, owned by Bright Stables, for a score of 211.5. Third place was claimed by Kate Szumanska and Nu Circle Of Hearts, scoring 209.5.
In the Intermediate Non Pro, Tom Vandermot and Colo-nel WR San Jo were second with 212 points.
Third place went to Aniek Hagelaars and FS Rio Good Gunner, score 211.5.
The second day of the international reining competition at Equita'Lyon today included three classes with two of them class in class.
The Belgian rider, Tom Vandermot, won the Novice Horse Non Pro Level 2, astride Colonel WR San Jo, with a score of 212.5.
Second went to Italian rider Andrea Castrucci, riding Skeets Play Drum, owned by KN Reining Resort SS, for a score of 211. Third place went to Belgian rider Piet Mest-dagh, riding ND Newtongravitation, for a score of 208.5.
The Limited Open, sponsored by GL Events, went to French rider Fabien Boiron, riding Jac Whiz, owned by
Philippe Castel, for a score of 221.5. Dutch rider Ann Grether finished as reserve with Wimpys Little Tejano, owned by Nancy Schmidt, scoring 218.
French rider Morgane Bohu was third with Whiz-dom Shines, owned by Greg Morat, at 214.5.
The Intermediate Open, sponsored by Delorme Au-tomobile, was also won by Fabien Boiron and Jac Whiz, owned by Philippe Castel, with a score of 221.5.
Anne Grether was second, scoring 218 with Wimpys Little Tejano, owned by Nancy Schmidt. Italian rider Gug-lielmo Fontana, riding The Genuine Rooster, owned by 23 QH Az. Agricola, finished third with a score of 216.
The 23-entry Novice Horse Open Level 2 was won by German rider Grisha Ludwig, riding Lil Smoke-ing Gun, owned by de Bruin Reining Horses, to a score of 144.
Second went to Italian rid-er Markus Schopfer, astride Spat Sailor Lena, owned by Jeannette Kraehenbuehl, for a score of 142.5. French rider Cédric Guerreiro took third for a score of 140.5 on A Chick In Hollywood, owned by Pierre Alboud.
The Any Horse Any Rider, with 46 riders was won by Belgian rider Bernard Fonck, with Smart N Sparkin, owned by 7 Heaven Reining Horses, and a score of 144.
His wife Ann Fonck was second, scoring 141 on High Point Reiner, owned by 23 QH Az. Agricola. There was a tie for third between Franck Perret and Nu Sailor Lena and Cira Baeck and Wimpys Jlo BB.
Judges for the event were Eugenio Latorre, Pierre Ouel-let, Sari Hébert, François Zurcher and Paolo Carraro.

The National Reining Horse Association Board of Direc-tors voted on November 3, during meetings in Oklahoma City, to maintain its Animal Welfare and Medications Poli-cy for NRHA events held in locations outside of Europe.
Medication testing will continue in 2015 at NRHA events held in locations outside of Europe. The association’s Ani-mal Welfare and Medications Policy, enacted in 2011, is a two-part program which also includes a protocol for events held in Europe and one for events held anywhere else.
Per the desire of the European membership and the Euro-pean Affiliate Council, a specific European policy that pro-vided for testing and disciplinary penalties was implemented on January 1, 2013. Simultaneously, the original policy outlined a multi-year plan for events held outside of Europe.
The first three years consisted of research testing at selected events, plus discussion and evaluation of disciplin-ary procedures and penalty structures. The research phase included four major events in the US and one in Europe.
During the research phase, 50 horses were tested with only two samples testing positive for a forbidden substance. Since 2013 when the disciplinary phase began in Europe, 148 samples have been tested with zero samples testing positive for a forbidden substance.
The time-line for the fourth year (2015) stated that testing will be implemented and disciplinary procedures enforced. For NRHA events held in locations outside of Europe, the following events are subject to testing: AA events ($100,000 or more in added money for the entire event), Category 2 and 6 (aged event) classes. With the vote to maintain the Animal Welfare and Medications Policy, testing is now slated to begin in May 2015. The policy, as approved in 2011, can be found in the Members Only sec-tion of www.nrha.com.
“Over the past year, I have talked to a lot of members about this subject. There have been some passionate discussions, but throughout, it was very clear that, despite differences in opinion on specific aspects, everyone held the welfare of the horse in the forefront,” said Rick Clark, previous chair of the Medications Task Force and NRHA Vice President.
“The intent of the NRHA Animal Welfare and Medica-tions program is to enact a process that carefully considers all aspects of the issue, its impact on our horses and its impact on our industry. A task force has been created to evaluate it and to bring any suggested changes to the board next year,” said Beth Himes, NRHA President.

Officials of the Pinto Horse Association of Ameri-ca announced a new partnership with Rein in Cancer in mid-October.
The partnership features Rein in Cancer promo-tions at both the Pinto Horse World Championship Show and the Color Breed Congress. Association members who are cancer patients will be eligible for cash payments while undergoing treatment.
“We are thrilled to partner with the Pinto Horse Association,” said Rein In Cancer President, Cheryl Magoteaux Cody. “This association has always represented an innovative and diverse mindset and we are looking forward to the opportunity for growing with them!”

Rein in Cancer is a 501(C)3 Corporation that was begun in 2008. Four years later, after raising funding to create the
Shirley Bowman Nutrition Center at the Charles and Peggy Stephenson Cancer Center in Oklahoma City, it began pro-viding direct financial assistance to cancer patients who are part of the horse community.
The response and the need were overwhelming. In just the first year, Rein In Cancer made payments to patients in 32 states and Canada. All recipients were members of the American Quarter Horse Association, the National Reining Horse Association, the National Reined Cow Horse As-sociation or the National Cutting Horse Association. Now

members of the Pinto Horse Association of America will also be eligible for assistance.
Funds have been raised 100% through activities sup-ported or hosted by equine industry events. Included in the long list of horse-related activities hosting Rein In Cancer fund-raising activities are Remington Park, the National Reining Horse Association Futurity, All American Quarter Horse Congress, the National Reining Breeders Classic, the March to the Arch, Arizona Sun Circuit and the American Quarter Horse Association World Championship Show.
Added to that list are countless cuttings, ropings, barrel races, and other horse shows from a variety of disciplines. Cody noted, “Rein In Cancer continues to raise funds for patient assistance. The need is real – especially for people going through treatment who still have to buy horse feed!”
Incorporated in 1956, the Pinto Horse Association of America was formed to encourage the promotion of quality horses, ponies and miniatures with color and to establish a registry for maintaining their show records and pedi-
