Deconstruction of a music magazines contents page

The fact that the main colour scheme is grey means that any different colour would stand out, which it does with the red heart, the placement of the heart gives the reader the inference that the artist must be passionate about his work as red is mostly used to give the connotation of passion

The way that they have written contents, ensures that it stands out, as it is bold and the biggest text on the page. It has also been split into three parts which breaks convention and makes this contents page unique

The text is in an informal font which gives the inference of a more relaxed styling of the page, and the headings a in a font which has a good flow which means that they would br=e easily read by the reader

The model has his hands in his pockets which makes him seem relaxed and approachable, however his eyes are looking straight at the reader, so as to establish a connection with the reader, this also gives the inference that the artist is also very serious

Even though the overall colour scheme of the page is grey, the model’s jacket clearly stand out as it is a different variation of grey combined with a pattern, this serves to draw the reader’s attention to the model’s face

The incorporation of the magazines title into the contents page, serves to further the reputation that this magazine provides an in depth guide to music

The fact that they have have put a band list on the left side, is because the reader reads left to right, and this will be the first thing that they read which will act as a hook to grab their attention and make them read on, the fact that is in red goes to making the writing stand out more

The secondary articles are set out in a logical way that fits convention with the different sections being headed by a bold title which will grab the readers attentionInstead of using

multiple images, they have chosen to use one image which has got a main title to go with it and a segment of the article which will inspire interest in the readers

At the bottom of the page is where the plug is located, it serves to provide an incentive for the readers to continue to buy this magazine

The main image consists of what appears to be a band, their body positioning and the way that they are crouched down make them look like they are looking at something and their facial expressions give them look like they are trying to figure out what it is

On both of the images they have a page number which corresponds to the images article, the page numbers stand out which is designed to catch the eye of the reader, and to let them know where they can find the information that they seek

The way that the secondary information has been laid out is in segments each with a bold heading which states the field it belongs to
