Lighting

• I will shoot the dialogue scene using low key lighting in the hopes that it brings an uncomfortable feeling to the audience which relates back to the crime genre. Also this technique can enhance the facial expressions of my characters, making the emotion and mood explicit to the audience. I also aim to use the chiaroscuro technique to present my knowledge and application from doing the lighting workshop.

Location• Since my film revolves around the idea of being brought up in the streets, I believe shooting in neighbourhoods would stay authentic to that idea. I plan to shoot in The Gardens or Jumeirah Village Triangle as the ideal for shooting there, they are the closest locations that resemble what I visualise for my film opening. It is also accessible for my crew and myself. The area is not crowded at any time of day, making it ideal to film as there are minimal distractions.

Soundtrack• I plan to use a catchy soundtrack in the hopes of catching the audience’s attention and also keeping the film in the audience’s memory. The soundtrack will belong to the rock genre as it has a very wild and rowdy sound, which relates to the characters in a way of symbolism. Since rock music is quite fast paced, I am able to edit the title sequence according to the speed of the soundtrack. I have concluded with a few possible options. (Bands: The Black Keys, Oasis, AC/DC or Arctic Monkeys.)

Costume• My characters will wear casual clothes. Brands such as Nike, Adidas and Converse will be used to try and get the audience to emphathise with the characters. I have researched the most popular brands and will use clothing with their logos. I have also made the decision to have each character wearing different headwear, such as beanies, bucket hats, snapbacks and flatcaps. This will hopefully separate each character and present them as unique, emphasising on the idea behind the ensemble cast.
