    Metropolitan Trial Courts (MeTCs)/Municipal Trial Courts in

    Cities (MTCCs)/Municipal Trial Courts (MTCs)/and

    Municipal Circuit Trial Courts (MCTCs)

    First Level Courts established in

    each city and municipality

    Jurisdiction is provided for bySections 33 and 35 of Batas

    Pambansa Blg. 129

    Jurisdiction has been expanded byspecial laws, namely, RA Nos. 9276,

    9252, 9305, 9306, and 9308

    MeTCs, MTCCs, MTCs, and

    MCTCs Shall exercise original jurisdiction in Civil Cases

    as provided for in Section 33 of BP Blg. 129:

    Exclusive original jurisdiction over civll actionsand probate proceedings

    Testate and intestate Including the grant of provisional remedies in

    proper cases

    Where the value of the personal property

    Estate or amount of the demand does notexceed One Hundred Thousand Pesos(100,000.00) or,

    In Metro Manila where such real property, estateor amount of the demand does not exceed TwoHundred Thousand Pesos (200,000.00)

    MCTCs Exclusive of interests, damages of whatever

    kind, attorneys fees, litigation expenses, andcosts the amount of which must be specificallyalleged:

    Provided, that interests, damages of whateverkind, attorneys fees, litigation expenses

    Including the grant of provisional remedies inproper cases

    Where the value of the personal property Estate or amount of the demand does not

    exceed One Hundred Thousand Pesos(100,000.00) or,

    estate amount of the demand does not exceedTwo Hundred Thousand Pesos (200,000.00),

    kind, attorneys fees, litigation expenses andcosts shall be included in the determination ofthe filing fees

    Provided, further, that where there are severalclaims or causes of action between the same ordifferent parties embodied in the samecomplaint, the amount of the demand shall bethe totality of the claims in all the causes ofaction arose out of the same or differenttransactions

    MeTCs, MTCCs, MTCs, and

    MCTCs Exclusive original jurisdiction over cases of

    forcible entry and unlawful detainer:

    Provided, that when, in such cases, thedefendant raises the question of ownership in

    his pleadings and the question of ownership inhis pleadings and the question of possessioncannot be resolved without deciding the issueof ownership, the issue of ownership shall beresolved only to determine the issue of

    possession

    Section 33 of Batas

    Pambansa Blg. 129 Provides that the Supreme Court

    may designate MeTCs, MTCCs,MTCs, and MCTCs to hear and

    determine cadastral or landregistration cases where the valuedoes not exceed One HundredThousand Pesos (100,000.00)

    Their decision can be appealed inthe same manner as the RegionalTrial Courts

    Empowered to hear and decidepetitions for a writ of habeas

    corpus or application for bail incriminal cases in the provinceor city in the absence of the

    Regional Trial Court Judges

    MeTCs, MTCCs, MTCs, and

    MCTCs By virtue ofA.M. No. 08-8-7-SC,

    enacted September 9, 2008andeffective October 1, 2008, the

    MeTCs, MTCCs, MTCs, andMCTCs were designated to trysmall claims cases for payment ofmoney where the value of the claim

    does not exceed One HundredThousand Pesos (100,000.00)eclusive of interests and costs

    MeTCs, MTCCs, MTCs, and

    MCTCs Shall apply the rules of procedure

    provided in A.M. No. 08-8-7-SC inall actions which are:

    a) Purely civil in nature where the claim or reliefprayed for by the plaintiff is solely for paymentor reimbursement of sum of money, and

    b) The civil aspect of criminal actions, either filedbefore the institution of the criminal action, orreserved upon the filing of the criminal actionin court, pursuant to Rule III of the RevisedRules of Criminal Procedure
