Job Announcement: Pharmacy Technicians Needed

The UAB School of Medicine, Huntsville Regional Medical Campus, is pleased to announce the 2016 Huntsville Rural Pre-Medical Internship Program.

The main purpose of the program is to provide college students who are interested in becoming physicians with exposure to the health care needs of rural Alabama, with a focus on how primary care specialties can address those needs.

The program is eight weeks, with five weeks spent at the Huntsville Regional Medical Campus and three weeks spent with rural physicians in Alabama.

Students participating in the program will receive a stipend of $2,500 to cover the cost of housing, meals, and transportation during the internship.

2016 Huntsville Rural Pre-Medical Internship Program

Pharmacy manager, Brooke Swanson, is seeking to hire a few pharmacy technicians for the Rite Aid Pharmacy close to campus. Students are encouraged to pick up an application at the location, 521 University Blvd. East, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401. All questions & inquires should be directed to Ms. Swanson at

The goal of this fellowship is to give talented undergraduate students the opportunity to experience the challenges & rewards of intensive, hypothesis-driven laboratory research. This experience should help students make well-informed decisions about future career plans.

Previous research experience is not required. Fifteen students per summer are accepted.

Applications are welcomed from students who are interested in research as a career, including students interested in PhD & MD/PhD programs.

Successful candidates will be of sophomore class standing or higher and typically demonstrate grade point averages of 3.0 (“B”) or higher, especially in science, math, and related areas.

For College Students Interested in Primary Care/Family Practice Medicine and Rural Practice Objectives: -To provide students exposure to the health care needs of rural Alabama, particularly the

primary care fields of Family Medicine, Internal Medicine and Pediatrics; -To enhance the interns’ understanding of medical school, the training of family doctors and the practice of family medicine/primary care in the rural setting; -To increase the participants’ competitiveness for medical school admission. Location: UAB School of Medicine, Huntsville Regional Medical Campus (5 weeks), and a Family

Medicine doctor in or near the intern’s hometown (3 weeks). Dates: June 1 – July 22, 2015 Stipends: $2,500 to assist with housing, transportation and meals. College Level and Academic Credentials: Students must have completed at least 4 semesters of on-campus coursework by May 2016, with an overall GPA in the B or higher range, and scores on the ACT > 20 or the SAT > 1100. Only Alabama residents are accepted. Students from rural areas are given priority in the selection process.
