Chris Nye ’s

Best of 2017

In September of 2017 our Executive Chef, Chris Nye, travelled through Emilia-Romagna and Piedmont, Italy. He brought back with him a solidified

appreciation for the wines of these regions. Our wine team at Spoon and Stable is excited to highlight a few of these as our best of 2017 line up!

A delicious, dry (not sweet), bubbly rosé for under $50?! Yes! This Lambrusco is tart and bright with a refreshing strawberry/cherry profile.

Lambrusco, Chiarli “Vecchia Modena” Emilia-Romagna Bottle 48

Often referred to as “White Barolo,” the Arneis grape earns its name from its finicky nature in the vineyard, roughly translating to “little rascal” in the local Piemontese

dialect. Bruno Giacosa is among the best producers. This one shimmers with notes

of lime pith, rocks, almond and green apple.

Roero Arneis, Bruno Giacosa 2014 Piedmont Glass 17 / Bottle 68

When it comes to pairing red wine with food, Barbera’s versatility stands in a league of its own. Its richness is naturally low in tannin and balanced with a striking acidity

that allows compatibility with anything from seafood pastas to grilled meats.

Barbera d’Alba, Andrea Oberto “Giada” 2015 Piedmont Bottle 99

Nebbiolo is famously described as being “like an iron fist in a velvet glove.” Like Pinot

Noir on steroids, the best Nebbiolos are muscular and hauntingly delicate all at

once. Mint, tar, potpourri, fresh roses, licorice, cherry. The quintessential pairing is with the equally mysterious personality of white truffles.

Barolo, Giacomo Borgogno 2012 Piedmont Glass 42 / Bottle 186

Barbaresco, Gaja 2011 Piedmont Double Magnum Bottle 1,500
