THE LIGHTS OF THE SIXTY-SIX
Fifth Light:
I am the blue light of HAPPINESS and JOY. You know me now, and you will never want me to go out. Your life would be dark
and dreary without me.
May the Lights of the Sixty-Six speak to you everyday, shine brightly for you, and guide you.
News from National
The revisions to the National Bluebook will be available from the National
Vice President. Please review the Bluebook and consider possible
recommendations to be considered at the next convention in 2016.
If you have convention photos, please forward them to National Vice President, Ellen Richter. Our condolences to the family of Rosemary VanDeusen, retired life member of the Bartlesville Chapter and past National Member-at-Large (1960). May you and your families enjoy a wonderful Christmas and a most prosperous 2016!

BARTLESVILLE CHAPTER NEWS
DECEMBER 2015 Gail Barnett, Reporter
Well, we had lots of rain in November and then it warmed up again. We can definitely use the moisture before winter sets in. At least we didn’t get ice here. We are also into the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season. JPS Chapter is busy with many Christmas projects and parties.
MEMBERSHIP CHRISTMAS PARTY: The annual Christmas party will be held on Saturday, December 12
at the home of Pattie Shipp. We are trying something a little different and hope many will be in attendance.
BOARD CHRISTMAS PARTY: The Bartlesville Board members met at the home of Mary Wyatt on Thursday, December 3 for their party. Besides the Board members, Tony Hoppe and Greg Swaney were in attendance. Members each brought gifts and we played “Dirty Santa”. The favorite gift was a cute wooden cutout which said HOHOHO, but if you turned it around it said OHOHOH. Thanks, Mary, for a delicious dinner and a fun time together.
CHRISTMAS PROJECTS: The Bartlesville Chapter will do several Christmas projects again this year. Projects will include filling sacks for the Head Start children and for the Mutual Girls Club. We also help out with presents at a local nursing home. Some members helped with the Santa Shop at Jane Phillips School. Many of these projects are already completed, and we thank all those who helped make them a success. We have three nights scheduled to work at the Fantasyland of Lights at Johnstone Park. Sunday, December 13 is Santa’s Cottage at the Frank Phillips Home. Our chapter will be supplying cookies, and several members will be working the event. So you can see this is a busy season for the Bartlesville Chapter members.
FUNDRAISING: We had another successful $ 6 Sale recently raising almost $ 2700, and we had a Books Are Fun event also. We are still selling Gift Shop items by contacting Marie Ullrich. Many thanks to all our workers for our various projects.
Deaths: Glenda Ringeisen, retired life member on November 25, 2015
Rosemary VanDeusen, retired life member on November 25, 2015
Illnesses: Michelle Swaney, gall bladder surgery Betty Smith, mother of Pattie Shipp, surgery Brian Harris, husband of Tish Harris, surgery complications Karen Lutke’s and Jan Brady’s mother, broken hip
BARTLESVILLE HAPPENINGS:
From Kathy Shelts: Kathy and Grover are hosting a young lady at their home. She is someone they have known for awhile, and she just needs a family to help her out.
Many JPS members and family are planning to attend the Friends of the Frank Phillips’ Home Christmas Party to be held on December 6. This is always a nice event and a great time to see the Home all decorated for Christmas.
Karen Lutke, Kathy Humphries, and Greg Swaney are all “retiring”. Actually don’t know which of the three is retired or who just “took a package”. Maybe they will let us in on their “new life” plans.
Kathy Shelts, Grover Shelts, Greg Swaney, Michelle Swaney, Connie Edwards and Rosie Swindell all attended the Memorial Service for Joanna Blanton held in Bartlesville on November 28. Kathy and Grover Shelts, Gail Barnett, and Jane and Larry Fisher all attended the graveside services for Rosemary VanDeusen held on December 2.
Bettye Williams, Tish Harris, and Gail Barnett will all probably attend the Heritage Nursing Home Christmas Party on December 10. You know you are getting old when you and your friends see each other at your parent’s nursing facility.
Pattie Shipp spent Thanksgiving with family in Texas and is with her mother who recently had surgery.
Jerold and Gail Barnett went to Denver the first week of November to attend a Thank You luncheon at the University of Colorado-Denver. While in Denver, they visited with Gail’s brother and sister-in-law, visited the Stranahan distillery in Denver, and toured a Pioneer Park in Ft. Lupton where a cabin donated by Gail’s family now sits. The cabin is over 150 years old and had sat on land owned by Gail’s grandparents until being donated. Jerold and Gail Barnett had a relaxing Thanksgiving in Branson with Andrea, Andy, Philip and Lexi and Caya (the dogs). Saw all the lights at Silver Dollar City, did some shopping, and visited Dixie Stampede. We will spend Christmas at home with the kids and Gail’s mom.

Deep in the heart of winter, Deep in the heart of night,
A babe was born in Bethlehem – The King of Love and Light.
Deep in the heart of winter, Deep in our hearts we pray
May this Love guide our footsteps and bless our Christmas Day.
May each of you have a wonderful Christmas season and be able to spend time with family and friends. Again, remember to keep saving those pennies and dollars so we can all meet next June! And as always, pray for our men and women in uniform especially as many are away from their homes this Christmas season. I wish each of you a Merry Christmas and a happy 2016. Gail [email protected]
OKLAHOMA CITY CHAPTER
Sharon Eaton, Reporter
December 2015
Greetings from Oklahoma City,
The Oklahoma City Chapter wishes each of you a very Merry
Christmas and a happy New Year. I am thankful that we live
in a country where I can say “Merry Christmas.” As we
celebrate this holiday season, I truly hope we remember
that Jesus is the reason for the season.
I had the following note from Marianne McEwin:
“I was able to spend a few days in Grand Prairie back in
October. Got to see my grandson Parker play T-Ball. He was
so cute!
The McEwins will be spending Thanksgiving at home and eating
with my sister's family this year. I spent last weekend with
my sister Donna Kay and my niece Lisa's family in Andrews and
Midland, Texas. We had a great time shopping till we
dropped, or I dropped anyway. I think they could have kept
going! Also visited a friend in Christoval on the way home.
Saw lots of deer on the sides of the road and one ran across
in front of me, but I managed to avoid hitting him!
This Sunday is our church's Thanksgiving meal and silly me
volunteered to make the dressing and gravy for it! But Ray
and I will like it anyway! It's a lot of pressure, but we don't
have a lot of younger people who volunteer to cook, so I feel
like I just have to step in and help the 80 year olds do it! It
will be a fun day with lots of testimonies and music. It's the
culmination of Fellowship Baptist Church's 10 year
Anniversary Celebration. “
Robin Miller and her family spent Thanksgiving Day with
Jerry and I and then went to Missouri to see the other
grandparents and extended family.
Jerry and I had the opportunity to visit this month with
Bartlesville members Michelle Swaney and Pattie Shipp. We
met and discussed the 2016 convention plans. It was good
to see them and we really enjoyed the visit.
I hope everyone is planning on attending convention next
June in Bartlesville. We have some fun things planned and
if you haven’t been to Bartlesville before, now’s the time to
come. I look forward to seeing each of you in Bartlesville in
June 2016.

DECEMBER 2015
We’ve seen our first snow although it lasted all of 30 minutes then disappeared but this area really needed the
moisture! The November Altrusa Craft Show and our annual Thanksgiving meal fundraisers went well. JPS fed
about 250 people including workers and we had so much assistance from those who were unable to work. Those
members do not know how valuable they were to those of us that were working.
WE APPRECIATE YOU! There were a few contractors and P66 people that assisted with setting up and getting
the area ready for those of us that were cooking. The workers also assisted with the cleanup which was very much
appreciated by the JPS workers that were pooped after this dinner. We had desserts left overs and were asked by
a group if they could sell the remaining desserts for a United Way fundraiser. It was a good fundraiser all the way
around. Here are pictures from our Thanksgiving Luncheon fundraiser hosted at the cafeteria for the plants:

JPS Supports Borger Area Learning Center (BALC) with Craft items & Clothing
JPS members recently collected items
needed by a local charity that our
group supports. The Borger Area
Learning Center(BALC) provided a
list to our members on some items
needed to do crafts and also some
clothing needs of some of the residents
that attend the BALC. The BALC
supports people with special needs and
has residents from the age of 16 years
up to over 60 years old.
At left Joan Gordon and Fran Braden
delivered the donated items to the
BALC. You can see some of the crafts
hanging that the residents create.

GETTING TO KNOW YOU – This Month’s feature is

I was born in Guyana (formerly British Guiana), a tropical rainforest located on the
northern coast of South America and having the distinction of being the only South American
nation in which English is the official language.
From a tender age, I observed my parents in outreach ministry, even inviting strangers to
spend the night when the occasion warranted. They have been a strong influence in my life, and
following in their footsteps, I found the opportunity
at CPChem to be that small drop of water in the JPS
ocean. In addition, I’m involved in Christian
Education (Pre K) and mission outreach through my
church (photo was taken during an outreach mission
trip to the Montgomery County food bank
sponsored by my church).
My husband and I along with our 4-year old
daughter left Guyana in 1981 for Antigua, West
Indies, where our 2nd
daughter was born. We
emigrated to the USA (Kissimmee, Florida) in 1987 and have since resided in Maryland,
Florida (for the 2nd
time – Ft. Lauderdale), Iowa, and Texas, as a result of my husband’s job
transfers.
Married for the past 40 years, we have been blessed with 4 grandchildren (all girls) who
live out of state (Minnesota and State of Washington).
JPS ACTIVITIES – (1) A book fair was held on November 3rd
and 4th
and was well
supported by employees.
(2) JPS was among the many tables set up by area
agencies for the Health and Wellness fair on November 12 and
distributed brochures and mandarins in keeping with the theme of
the day.
(3) Additionally, JPS delivered 263 poinsettias ordered
from Bridgewood Farms and wish to thank everyone for their
support of this project. Bridgewood Farms has been very
instrumental in providing day and after school programs for
individuals with special needs in the Montgomery area and the
poinsettias purchase support their programs and services – the
plants are grown by staff and clients on their campus.
(4) Another JPS activity during this season of giving is
the Angel Tree. We are sponsoring 50 children in the
Montgomery area who will be receiving 3 gifts each and are
very appreciative of the generosity shown by CPChem
employees during this drive.
