WHAT IS VALLEY CLEAN ENERGY?

• Valley Clean Energy (VCE) was formed by local communities to bring cleaner energy at competitive rates to residents and businesses in Woodland, Davis, and unincorporated Yolo County.
• As a Community Choice Energy (CCE) Program, VCE provides an alternative to PG&E and gives our member communities a choice in how much of our electricity comes from clean sources.
• VCE is Mission Driven: Deliver cost-competitive clean electricity, product choice, price stability, local control, energy efficiency, and greenhouse gas emission reductions.
•Feasibility Study 2016
•JPA formed in mid-2016/first Board Meeting Dec 2016
•Contracted with SMUD for Energy Services 2017
–Load Forecast and Financial Modeling, Procurement, Schedule Coordination, Resource Settlement/Verification, Enterprise Risk Management, Data and Call Center Services
•Implementation Plan Fall 2017/Certified early 2018
•VCE Launched June 2018

• Competitive rates (2018 target
rate is 2½% below PG&E’s)
• Cleaner energy than PG&E (2018
target is 42% renewable)

• Several cities and counties are actively considering CCA start-up

• Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
RECENT CPUC DECISION

• On October 11th, the CPUC approved a decision to increase the exit fees (PCIA) paid by CCE’s
• VCE is committed to competitive rates with PG&E while providing additional benefits to the community
• As a result of the decision, beginning in January 2019, VCE will match PG&E rates
• Customers still receive benefits identified earlier—local control, greener energy, customer choice and investment in the community (SACOG grant)
