Legacy Presented by Robert L. Moorey, FACHE - Area Vice President For Trimedx
During this session, we will contemplate the importance of legacy in our personal lives and professional careers. Observation of humanity will demonstrate that everyone desires to be remembered. Bruce Lee once said, “The key to immortality is first living a life worth remembering.”
It is this desire to be worthy of remembrance that humans celebrate birthdays, wedding and work anniversaries, graduations, and even death. These types of activities mark the life of an individual into the memories of those around the individual.
Societies erect statues of their greatest citizens. We read and study the lives of people who have left a lasting mark on history and society.
We remember these individuals because their lives emulate ideas, characteristics, and principles that we seek to perpetuate in the lives of others.
We remember the lives of those who matter to us. Whether it be our Families, Leaders, Thinkers or those who have succeeded.
We remember those who have blazed the trail for future generations to walk, or who illuminate our path through this life.
We have the potential to be a positive impact to those around us today. Through them, we can be immortal. If we only will remember, we must live a life worthy of remembrance.

The Bill Yandell Memorial Scholarship Fund is dedicated to the memory of Bill Yandell, life time champion for the Biomedical Community and the Florida Biomedical Society. The purpose of these funds is to provide scholarship assistances to qualified applicants for continuing academic pursuit in the field of biomedical engineering. The beneficiaries of the program shall be people who are studying to start, or further a career in the biomedical profession. Preference will be given to FBS members, relatives of FBS members or U.S. Veterans. These scholarship funds have been established and will serve to assist our members as they continue to advance their professional education.
BMET of the Year: The society also recognizes nominees for BMET of the year from the individual chapters and selects one of them as the FBS BMET of the Year. The FBS BMET of Year was established as a way to recognize those biomedical professionals that distinguish themselves during the course of each calendar year. Each chapter may submit a nominee as their BMET of the Year. The FBS BMET of the year is then selected from the nominees. The FBS BMET of the year is someone who embraces and works to achieve the goals and values of the FBS Society and works for the betterment of the Biomedical Profession.
