FromFrom Mass Pike exit #12 After toll take Route 9 East toward Framingham.

Turn right at the first traffic light onto Country Club Lane (Jefferson Hills Apart-

ments on right), you will start to see red WCC signs. Turn left onto Gates

Street and proceed to your second stop sign. Turn right onto Badger Road

(Church Conference Center on right). Stay on Badger Road 2.3 miles to the

center of Ashland (General Store). Proceed through town, passing all traffic

signals and continue up the hill. At the top of the hill turn right onto Chestnut

Street. Go 1.1 miles and the Warren Inn will be on your right.

Boston & Logan Airport Follow signs to downtown Boston via Sumner Tunnel.

Bear right upon exiting the tunnel and follow signs to Route 93 South. (Bear

right out of tunnel, then a U-turn left). Follow Route 93 South for 1 mile, exit

right on Route 90 West – Mass Pike. Proceed on the Mass Pike West to exit

#12 (Framingham Route 9). Now follow directions from exit #12 above.

From Points North or South Via Route 495 Proceed on Route 495 to exit 21A

(West Main Street / Hopkinton). Proceed 1.6 miles to the center of Hopkinton.

Continue through Hopkinton on Route 135 for 4.5 miles to the second set of

traffic lights in Ashland and turn right onto Main Street. Proceed up a hill and

turn right at the top onto Chestnut Street. Go 1.1 miles and The Warren Con-

ference Center & Inn will be on your right.

From Points North or South Via Route 95/128 Proceed on Route 95/128 to

Route 90 West (Mass Pike). Continue on the Mass Pike West to exit #12

(Framingham Route 9). Now follow directions from exit #12 below.

Prez Sez December 2015

Greetings YB Nation. It is with bald tires, heated gear, and a turkey hangover that I write my final column for the year 2015. I would like to take a moment to reflect on the virtue of checking your tire pressure before riding 100 miles on a cold winter day, and also that of declining a second piece of pie.

It is that time of year when we reflect on the things in our life that really matter. Amidst the raucous clatter of door buster sales, end of year deadlines, and other pressing distractions, it is crucial that we not lose sight of what's important. To me these things are simple: family, friends, good health. I am truly thankful to call each and every one of you my friends, and to have enjoyed yet another year of two-wheeled adventure in the company of the Yankee Beemers. I am continuously impressed with the energy, enthusiasm and creativity of the people in this club. Just with the YBs I’ve ridden over 20 thousand miles, through more than 20 US states and Canada. Not to mention crashing SantaCon in New York City!

2015 has been one of the busiest and best years with the YBs. The weather has been unbelievable. It seems like it hardly ever rained, and the sun shined more than not. It was 60 and sunny just yesterday. I am putting together the 2016 calendar and as I go through the pictures, there are no swamped bikes, blown down tents, and not a single YB wearing a rain suit! Please go through your smartphones, your hard drives, and your Facebook pages. I would like to collect the best pictures from the year and get them on the 2016 Calendar. If you know of an event happen-ing in 2016, please post it on the forum. While we all enjoy the Instagrams, Facebooks, text messages, emails, smoke signals and morse code you all send, the YB Fo-rum is the central communication hub. I encourage all of you to log in, read the chatter, and post your ride reports, GPX files, cal-endar events, pics, and parts wanted or for sale. We have a really great resource in the YB Forum and it is great to log in and see your bike up to its grips in mud, with all your friends pointing and laughing… ( just kidding, those “friends” should be pulling or pushing you out! )

Coming up December we have the monthly Ride To Eat at the Wil-lowbrook in Mendon MA on Dec 20th, and the YB Holiday Party on January 16th. Please register for the YB Holiday Party as soon as possible so we can give the Inn a proper headcount. We have tried to keep the price low, and have a ton of guest speakers, door prizes, ven-dors, and other great entertainment for you this year. The Warren Inn is a warm, cozy venue in Ashland MA, and we really enjoyed having the party there last year. Thanks Bob Blethen for putting it together again! The food is great, the drinks are cheap, and the company can’t be beat! Invite your friends!

This is a great chance to meet new riding buddies, plan next year's ad-ventures, swap gear, parts and stories, and just get to know each other better. If you took a trip you’d like to share, or are a vendor of some-thing we’d be interested in, please let me know if you’d like a speaking slot and we’ll give you the microphone for a moment.

If you have a vintage BMW or other EuroTrash scooter, I am looking to do more next year with the Airheads. I have an 83 R80RT myself, and I am hoping that we can get a lot of these great old bikes out of the gar-age and onto the field at the 2016 Damn Yankees Rally . It’s really cool to see the R27’s and the /2’s and the /5’s parked on the field next to the high tech wizardry of the new stuff… Ride Em Don’t Hide em! Bring your Guzzis, Ducatis, Zundapp and Laverdas! Your Jawas, Bul-tacos, Ossas and Triumphs. We love Nortons, and Enfields and Urals. If it’s got Lucas Electrics we’ll help you push it. Nothing warms my heart like a field full of old bikes and the excited chatter of their owners drinking wine, eating pasta, and doing wheelies. Yes, Brad Barrus, we dig scooters too. John Van Hook will be chairman of the DYR SideCar Contingent, 3 wheelers will have their own special event at the rally as well.

I would like to thank the weather gods, the rally chairs and their spous-es, all of the volunteers, vendors, and “Team 2015” for helping me get thru my first year as YB Prez without anything hitting the floor. I am looking forward to doing it again next year. Please consider leading a ride, coming to a tech day, or volunteering at a YB Event next year; the more involved you are, the better it gets!

planned but couldn’t find the time for. Finally get to that rally you’ve been

MEANING to put on your calendar!

In the immortal words of Jim Morrisson : No one here gets out alive !

So please take Jim’s advice don’t leave here with a full Bucket List !

Our friends the McDonnoughs once again have hammered this point home

for me, when they recently packed it all up and aimed their rig to the Great

American Southwest for the Winter. Just like their trip last year to the Florida

Keys, they pushed the envelope at work to make this trip happen. Kevin and

Donna both worked hard enough to get the OK to work remotely for

FIVE MONTHS this year ! WINNING !

They did their homework and found their Arizona destination . The little

town of Florence is between Tucson and Phoenix The camping resort

(Glamping ) they picked is called Desert Gardens. Lots of riders spend

their winters here , Also it’s right on “The Fastest Road in America “

Az SR# 79 (Maybe they’re gonna trade that FLH in on a K16? )

Well, they are certainly making it happen , So should You and I !
