Christian Youth Centre - Scott’s Head “The Lord Will Provide”

Genesis, 22:14

MMM received a call for help, at short notice, from CYC Scott’s Head. The construction of 6 ensuites for their dormitory rooms had taken longer than expected and they were running out of time to finish them prior to their busy ministry season over summer. While we had committed to other projects at this time, we put out the need to our MMM network and God blessed our prayers. Within 3 days of the email going out, we had 8 MMM workers commit to attending in the follow days. What was even more pleasing, was that 4 people put up their hands, who either had never been on a project or hadn’t done so for over 5 years. What seemed impossible with man, was possible with God! The project required the internal sheeting of the 6 bathrooms and the project was knocked over in 4 days, so the crew who volunteered for the second week didn’t have to go! It was a great blessing to MMM and to CYC. Manager Geoff Hannah wrote: “ Just writing to thank [MMM] again for the fantastic job the folks did for us this week. They achieved everything we had hoped for and they

were a terrific bunch of people to work with. We really appreciate everything you have all done for us.”

MMM can only bless as God moves each individual to respond to the need of His mission. A big thank you to Pam & Bruce Collard, Frank & Yvonne Wilkey, Ian Dawson, Steve Van Waart, Hugh Wilson, Grant Cameron & Robert Christie for responding to the need, either serving on the job or offering to assist. MMM Head Office Terry’s Christmas Message

Christmas MMMessage

As we celebrate Christmas this year with family and friends we should do

so with joy in our hearts and love in our thoughts. There are many across

our world that don’t have the opportunity to celebrate as we do, there

are many who sadly feel there is little to celebrate. As we celebrate, we

should also reach out to others less fortunate, those struggling with loss,

and despair, those that have nobody to celebrate with.

Christmas is about recognising there is a God that loves us so much that

He sent his one and only Son to make sure we could have the kind of

relationship that He wanted when he first created mankind.

Many will attend church services this Christmas in churches

that have a small fingerprint somewhere left by MMM as we

have visited, worked, and departed. That fingerprint is not

anyone of our volunteers, nor is it of MMM, it’s the

fingerprint of Christ. It’s in his name that we do what we do,

that we serve those who serve. Thank you for doing your part

in the life of MMM this year.

I wish you all a very merry Christmas, and a happy and

safe New Year.

Blessings to all.

Going!

Selwyn Sexton, from Sowers International

Aboltin’s Family Sharing about their first MMM project

An enjoyable time was had by 65 MMM volunteers at our Annual Luncheon held on the 29th No-vember. Our guest speaker, Sel-wyn Sexton shared about the min-istry of Sowers International and demonstrated how they creatively share the gospel on the streets around the world. A lovely meal prepared by volunteers was en-joyed along with updates from Terry Baxter, CEO and Shane Prior of the MMM Board. A big thank you to all who made this an enjoyable celebration. This photo (bottom right) is of the “Screw loose Buffet” - where left over boxes of nails, screws, bolts were made available for volunteers to restock their tool boxes.

“I’m an MMMer” a poem shared by Lyn-

don Bell at the NSW Luncheon. Let me share a little secret, to help fill in the gap, Grab that brush, paint the eaves, and I’ll tell you where it’s at. Up here on the scaffold, is where I like to perch, with a brush in me hand - is how I serve the church. You see, God made all different shapes and sizes, dancers, preachers, singers & squawkers, architects and power talkers, Some have great intentions and visionary plans, But I’m an MMMer, I prefer to work with me hands. I don’t need no alarm to get out of bed, There’s too much to do, no time be wasted. I work for the Lord, he’s my boss, This work site is holy ground, it pro-claims the message of the cross. But every day, at half past ten, We down the tools, yes its morning tea again, We grab a cuppa, come before the King, read his word and talk to Him, It stirs my heart, refreshes my soul Despite the heat and the bitter cold, We’ll knock this job over, with a day to spare,

Yes I’m an MMMer, in my Master’s care. Some of us are plasterers, sparkies and plumbers, Some are teachers, Professors and mothers, It matters not what’s in your lot, All you need is a nail bag, and a love for the lost. You’ll learn on the job, all sorts of skills, You’ll get fit and strong -you may even get off your pills! Watch out Mate, you missed a bit, Brush it again it’s got to look great. You see we help each other, giving a lift, a tool or helping hand, But just don’t tell me how to reverse my caravan. We serve in the cities, suburbs and scrub, Rydalmere, Cowra, and even the old Blayney Pub. We drive huge distances, a long way from home, Petrol, diesel, van or motorhome, Some will argue which it should be, Boasting of their fuel economy. Toyota, Nissan, or camper or Jayco, Whatever takes your fancy, even a Win-nebago, As long as it gets there - that’s the nuts of it, Whatever the make -you’ll still wash the dust off it.

Blimey it’s hot, I can’t wait for lunch, Its got to the stage, paints drying on me brush. It’s better than Katoomba, up in the hills, Where you work until your bones start to chill. You see I’m an MMMer, whatever the weather, We bless those who serve, and we do it to-gether. We’ll you’d better stop talking, you’re slow-ing me down, Quick pick up the pace, Team leaders doing his rounds. He’s there to check we’re doing our best, quick get off the ladder and stick on a vest. He keeps us safe, which is really important, If you’re in the wrong, he’ll call Ian Dawson! But its the people we serve, that really gets me, out in the desert, doing it tough in min-istry. No latte’s, glitz or glamour, they serve re-gardless, as Christ’s ambassador, Sometimes you wonder how we can help in these lonely places, But when the jobs done, you should see their faces. Using my hands to bring Christ’s love, Empowered by His Spirit, that comes from above. You see I’m an MMMer, and I stand tall, Cause no one else will paint this wall.

MMM Northern Australia Region Dinner

MMM Build - Rob Dux. 5/621 Whitehorse Rd, Mitcham VIC 3132 Ph. 03 9837 2700 Fax 03 9837 2799 [email protected]

On the 8th November, the QLD committee hosted our annual dinner at Stafford Heights Baptist Church where we are members. Our theme this year was “On the road again”. With 138 people booked in and 16 helpers assisting our wonderful caterer Janelle, the evening was a great success. Graham Kapinga, our state chairman was our MC and did a great job of keeping things flow-ing along. The evening included a short history of MMM by Terry, a report of the projects and our journey through the year about the northern Australian region from John and a message from Ps Alan Grieve who had just read “Miracles at Mango Hill”, so tied the history of MMM QLD into his talk. Tom and Gaye Redsell donated one of their Indigenous art pieces and we conducted a silent auction throughout the evening which added to the funds raised. The art is from the West Arnhem Land area where Tom and Gaye were teachers for a few years, and there were other items on display to look at. Thank you to all who helped to make the evening such a success. We had a great team this year and it was a blessing to have you all on board. Over fifteen thousand dollars was raised during the dinner which as-sists in helping us to continue to ‘serve those who serve’.

L to R: Painting s on display for silent auction, everyone seated and a close up of the tables.

Helping out at Zillmere Church of Christ

Help was needed back at Zillmere Church of Christ recently, so John has been spending time there re-newing the water main into the church and pipe work under the building to kitchen and toilets. He has removed and replaced white ant eaten timber in toilets and repainted male and female toilets. The floors were being tiled in the toilets and John installed new pedestals and cisterns which made it all look so much better. This church is very multi cultural and this year has more than doubled in size as they outreach to the refugees who have settled in the Zillmere area. John has worked on this project by himself and isn’t good a taking selfies so we don’t have photos of interest, unless you like to see pipes in walls, pipes coming out of the floor and other walls.

MMM Vic help out in getting the Church over the line … After a long building program involving major extensions and refurbishments, the tired Church locals at New Gisborne’s House of the Rock Church needed encouragement for the final push to progress the work from ‘nearly complete’ to a stage where a Certificate of Occupancy could be obtained. Thanks to word of mouth, the church contacted MMM and a small Victorian MMM team made a significant impact over four days, caulking up joints in the large multi-slab fire-rated wall and applying a finishing coat of paint on all exterior surfaces and trims. The team comprised Brian and Kathy Chisholm, Ian and Marilyn Wilson and Keith Eyssens. Noel Taylor was also able to assist for one of the days so it was a very productive team. It was most pleasing to note that a Certificate of Occupancy was granted prior to our leaving, subject to several minor issues. The finish line was crossed and the Church have a new place to meet and impact the locals of New Gisborne with the Gospel. Well done team and God Bless your work!
