The Major Message

League UpdatesIn October, JLC hosted a successful fundraiser - The Murdered Mistress, aninteractive murder mystery dinner held at the Woman’s Club of Charleston.

Also in October, the League sold its inventory of cookbooks! This provided a niceprofit and eliminated a very unpopular requirement. For historical purposes andon an “as needed” basis, we have retained 150 copies of each edition of ourbeloved cookbooks. Mountain Measures and A Second Serving have provided ourLeague with income, notoriety, experience and a rich history for many years. Thevote for this took place at the October general membership meeting.

We continue to plan for our Women on the Move fundraiser. Please send anyideas for this to Elizabeth Yeager.

How long have you been in the JLC: 2 years

What’s your favorite part about being a member of the JLC: I love volunteering. That is the main reason I joined. Making a difference, even if it is small, in our localcommunity really means a lot to me. There are a lot of great successful women inthe Junior League, and I am so grateful to have met them and call them my friends.I love being able to tell people who do not know the Junior League all about ourorganization.

Why did you join the JLC: My longtime friend Tiffany Hoke joined JLC the seasonbefore I did. She told me all about it a few days before the first spring provisionalmeeting and encouraged me to come to the meeting to check it out. I went to themeeting and have loved being a part of the JLC ever since.

Fun Facts: I played competitive tennis for 15 years and was nationally ranked. Ilove playing recreational volleyball and softball. I’m left handed.

Provisional DevelopmentThe Fall 2014 Provisional Class has 12 members. For their Provisional Project, these

ladies organized two holiday crafting parties at ResCare homes in Dunbar and CrossLanes. The ladies provided the residents with all of the materials for some cute

reindeer, as well as delicious snacks. The residents enjoyed the interaction with suchdelightful ladies and the provisionals loved talking with the residents. This was a

successful project for both the provisionals and the ResCare residents.

We are already looking forward to our Spring 2015 Provisional Class. If you knowanyone who may be interested in joining the Junior League of Charleston, please

give their contact information to Jenny Herald or Kassie Moore.
