S eason’s Greetings to the Brickyard family!! I wish to thank you for yet another wonderful year that you have al-lowed me to manage one of the best golf club’s in the Middle Georgia area. We would like to express gratitude to the members and their associates who booked their holiday events at the Brickyard. We will have the pleasure of hosting over 60 events between December 1st and December 22nd …what a blessing!!!
I am excited to provide you with a membership update for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2014. We currently have 258 total members with 238 being golf members; we lost 24 members during the last fiscal year. As we continue to strive to improve amenities and to reach our goal of 350 golf members, Management and the Executive Committee have created new membership programs for the winter season, including the Gift Initiation Fee Membership and the Preview Member-ship programs. Please see the Membership page in this newsletter for more details; you can also refer to the information that was mailed to you.
I want to thank each member who so graciously contributed to the Employee’s Holiday Fund. Your generous contributions will help make our employee’s families very joyous this season. We appreciate your kindness and value your membership!
The Executive Committee has made a decision to extend the capital fund fee of $25.00 until December 31, 2015. This fee will only apply to those in the Family Membership Classification and does not apply to the Ambassador or other member-ship programs. As in the past, the $25.00 can be used as a credit for food and non-alcoholic beverage purchases on a monthly basis. In addition, beginning January 1, 2015, members who have resigned within the past twenty-four months will be unable to take advantage of special guest passes and promotions. They will continue to be allowed to play as guests a maximum of five times per calendar year and fees of $125.00 (for 18 holes) will apply. We have updated the Club Mem-bership Information and Rules and Regulations booklet on the website to reflect these changes as well as other updates. As a reminder, we continue to offer the Reinstatement Program to members who have resigned at any time; please call the club for details.
We have continued our quest to find a new Head Golf Professional and look to have him on board by February 2015. We thank you for your patience and we are grateful to have Jim Hickman, acting Golf Professional, and Anastasia step in to run the pro shop and golf operations department. They have been instrumental in maintaining the golf standards expected by our membership.
Due to the busy holiday season, the two-for-twenty dinner will be offered on only December 2nd and December 16th. We will resume this popular offer on Tuesdays beginning January 17th. Also, Food and Beverage will be closing at 5 pm on December 31st and will reopen on January 10, 2015 for breakfast at 8:00 am. The golf course and driving range will also be closed through January 9th for much needed repairs on hold #5 and hole #8 (please refer to Briane’s article for addition-al information). In an effort to minimize your inconvenience during this time period, we are in the process of finalizing reciprocal agreements with several area clubs; please see the golf page in this month’s newsletter for additional details.
Please check our website for the blueprints of Brickyard’s future Irish Pub Poolside; they will be available for viewing the second week of December!

I t’s time for another busy holiday season at the Brickyard! I hope you will join us for some of our special events this December, especially the Annual Membership Holiday Party on December 22nd. And don’t forget to enjoy a deli-cious dinner by the fire in the Grille after a bracing round of golf!
We have had a wonderful year for membership, and while it is drawing to a close, I am expecting next year to be just as fruitful. Having more members means that events are more well attended, the golf course is used every day (though still uncrowded!), and the Brickyard has the ability to add more events, tournaments, and amenities. With that in mind, help close out this year with a bang by referring friends, family, and co-workers for Brickyard membership. The Winter Pre-view Membership is still available (but hurry—the last day to apply is December 15th!), and we also have other options available as well. Don’t forget the new Out of Town Membership, the Individual Preview Membership, and the Gift of Initiation as described in the November 24th letter sent out to all members. Please remember that I am always happy to answer your questions by phone, email, or in person. I am also always happy to reach out to a prospective member on your behalf. I wish you all safe travels, good company, and much joy this holiday season!

A Note from your Course Superintendent Tis’ the season to be jolly… and cold!!!! Things on the course have slowed down now that the cold weather is here. We have worked really hard to keep the course cleaned up as much as possible, but those leaves are hanging in there. They should be done dropping soon and we will move on from that. We will start work-ing on cutting back the chordgrass and cleaning up the woods this month. We will also be spraying for weeds in the roughs and fairways, along with the green complex-es. Along with the Clubhouse being closed for maintenance, we are also going to close the course and driving range the first week of January. From January 1st through the 8th we will be working on some projects on the course. We are going to fix the drainage issue at #5 green, the drainage issue on #8 by the cart path, some drainage problems on the driving range, and to take the dead trees on the course down. We hope to complete all of these projects that week but it all depends on the weather. Being closed will help us concentrate on just the projects and safety of our workers when working around the green. Thank you for your understanding. A few small improvements to the course you might have noticed; 1. We have added some sand containers by #10 tee to re-fill your sand bottles at the turn. I can’t thank you enough for filling your divots in on the course. 2. We have also added a small air gun by the cart staging area for everyone to blow the grass off your golf shoes. 3. There are new trash cans on the par 3 tees, #2, #5, #11, and #14, to make it more convenient to get rid of your trash.
