The Volunteers who make MMM

MMM, like most churches and missions, relies on the amazing contribution made by the volunteers serving God through our ministry. MMM Volunteers operate in numerous areas; in a state offices assisting on committees, helping in the fundraising efforts at market stalls and garage sales, or working on projects throughout the country wielding a paintbrush and hefting a hammer. These faithful Volunteers all serve in God’s name and without them, MMM could not fulfil it’s calling.

God has blessed MMM with many wonderful volunteers meeting the needs that come MMM’s way; you are God’s blessing to us, and together we bless the wider Christian community. It is profoundly comforting knowing that God is working in this way; as you volunteer for MMM, you become God’s provision for His work. You are the conduits through which God blesses many others, and through which many people come to know Christ as Lord and saviour. MMM volunteers are such a significant part of God’s big ‘Great Commission’ picture.

Just as MMM serves those who serve, so MMM is served by the Volunteers who serve. With this in mind, we thank you. MMM Head Office, MMM State Offices and MMMers thank you, MMM Volunteers, for all you do.

MMM Vic Needs You MMM Victoria is always receiving numerous project applications. While many can wait, a recent Fusion

application has come our way where time is short. If you are able to assist this worthy ministry, we are hoping to get a team together for a start on January 8, 2014 to rejuvenate some crisis accommodation they have on the Mornington Peninsula.

Serving Coonabarabran Presbyterian Church

During November, the MMM NSW Team served Coonabarabran Presbyterian church, a little over hundred and eighty kilometres west of Tamworth. The project needs mainly involved refurbishing their amenities block. The team included Les & Faye Schwebel, Siete & Leny Woldhuis, Trevor & Janette Watts, Barry Campbell, Roelof Oosterveen and Neil & Chris Thompson. The original amenities were removed and were reconfigured to include a disabled equipped room. The team camped at a nearby caravan park and were well fed by the church folk. The team managed to fit in some sight seeing including the famous

Warrumbungle’s while there. We pray that these improvements will help this growing church continue to share the Good News about Jesus with the people of Coonabarabran. Well done team. As the pastor notes below, MMM honoured Christ in their work.

MMM QLD Gathering

Forty-four people gathered at Tunnel Ridge Ranch on Saturday 2nd November to have fellowship together. It was mentioned at our last garage sale at Mango Hill in March that we should get together at the end of the year to catch up, so this was a culmination of that comment. Terry Baxter was present for a few hours which was really great as he spoke to the gathering and fielded questions. He briefly spoke about his passion for the mission, how God led him to this new position and that he would be communicating with the broader associates as time goes on. We enjoyed a lovely meal prepared by Paul and Cheryl Fishburn, owners of Tunnel Ridge Ranch. MMM has had a significant partnership with them in building the camp site and Paul and Cheryl have always looked after the teams that worked there, as well as our ladies Auxiliary celebrations, through the years. Marge and Anne organised a “If the price is right” game, which was enjoyed by most, and many shared stories and reflections of their times at Mango Hill sales, as helpers. Almost half the people stayed the night and Rob Saunders gave a short message on Sunday morning, with some praise and worship. Thank you to everyone who attended the weekend and helped to make it a lovely time. Maybe it will become an annual event. John & Anne Cooper.

MMM BUILD update By Rob Saunders

New South Wales Thanks to Greg Floyd and his team. The rebuild of the Bexley Baptist Church toilets is well underway with the demolition of the existing ones and excavation for the new slab. We hope to have them finished for Christmas.

Hilton Bell (Lyndon’s brother) is managing St Luke’s Anglican at Hornsby Heights. Wet weather slowed down proceedings, but the blocklayer started this week. The large subfloor area will be blocked in the next 10 days and have it out of the ground and the floor complete by Christmas. Thank you Hilton and team.

Other projects on the radar in NSW include Pitt Town...Swansea...Coogee...Padstow...Gosford!

Queensland Trinity Baptist Church is almost ready for the roof to go on next week and should be locked up by Christmas. Well done to the crew in Cairns headed up by Ray Wearmouth and supported by Bill Morris. Other potential projects in QLD include Beenleigh...Logan...Ipswich...Mareeba.

Western Australia We are working closely with Newman Baptist Church to do the groundwork with the architect and the Shire Council for future extensions. Also doing similar groundwork there for work at the Martu Christian Fellowship in Newman. MMM mobile teams will also play a big part in this project in 2014.

Our thanks to John Quartel who is on-site and co-ordinating this project to get the plans through council at this moment.

Opportunity comes knocking …

When opportunity comes knocking at your door, it often doesn’t have a great deal of patience waiting for the door to be opened … and so it was that when an architect mentioned to Rob Dux (MMM Build MD) about three levels of office desks and shelving that was to be scrapped, and 8 days in which to decide, time was crucial. With a quick little chat with MMM Terry Baxter to see if MMM Australia could salvage some of it for re-sell purposes, the oppporunity for some money going to MMM operations was a Godsend. With only a week before the renovators were moving in to scrap the lot, the head office team kicked into gear, found a day to allocate, and managed to flat pack everything that could fit onto the small truck, a large tandem trailer, a smaller trailer and ute which were available for furniture transport. Well done to the work team of Rob, Terry, Cedric, Kim, Dave and John. Who said management couldn’t pick up a tool for the greater good … what a great effort! As a follow on from this, if you know of someone looking to outfit an office, we will soon have the desks re-assembled and available for purchase - all enquiries to MMM Head Office on (03) 9837 2700.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer & petition, with

thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Pray for MMM CEO, Terry Baxter, as he plans for the staff conference that is from December 12-14, including preparing staff survey responses for discussion. Pray for God’s sustaining & guidance for Terry as he attends to daily MMM considerations & also has speaking engagements & church commitments. Pray for God’s guidance for the Staff Conference guest speaker Rob Baker, National Engineering Manager of Stihl Australia, as he prepares what to share. Pray for the preparations for the End-of-Year staff conference & AGM taking place from Dec 12-14. Pray that it will be an enriching & growing time for all & that many MMM supporters will be able to attend some of it. Pray for MMM Board Chair, Andy Boer, as he prepares an update to share at Conference. Pray for Alan Wilkinson to be able to receive knee replacement surgery soon. Pray for his wife Elizabeth who is experiencing pain and seeking medical advice. VIC – SATURDAY 14th - AGM Give thanks for the commitment & sacrificial time given by Andy Boer to the role of MMM Board Chair. Andy is stepping down from this role at the AGM . Pray for the new Board Chairperson to know God’s wisdom & guidance as they lead the Board as they govern MMM. Pray for travel mercies for all leaving the AGM. VIC Head Office at Mitcham - Praise God for the skills & great commitment of the administration staff. Pray they will have a restful, safe & very blessed Christmas & holiday time. Praise God for the wonderful, faithful servants of the Lord who use their skills on MMM projects to bless, encourage & better equip Christian ministries. Pray for growth of these ministries we have assisted & that they will be effective in advancing God’s kingdom. Pray for God’s rich blessings on the MMM team members. Pray for volunteers to have a great rest over Summer & be ready to serve again in 2014. Pray for God’s protection over them & his blessings. Pray for appropriate projects to come forward for 2014 that will be a blessing to many. Give thanks for the appointment of a new Director for MMM Zambia , Mrs Florence N-Kaniki, & her skills for this role. Pray she will know God’s wisdom & guidance to grow the ministry of MMM Zambia. Give thanks for our Finance Co-Ordinator, Diane. Pray for God to draw her to himself. SAT 21st Pray for God to bless the wedding today of Kristy Dux & Cameron. Kristy is the daughter of MMMBuild Director Rob & his wife Lyn. Pray for God to grow this couple’s faith & their love for each other. Praise God for all the efforts of the MMMBuild staff. Pray they will have a restful, safe & very blessed Christmas & holiday time. Give thanks to God for the numerous projects they have gained & for the blessing this assistance is to the organizations they have worked for & for the provision of finances for MMM. Give thanks for the valuable assistance Architect Ewe-Jin Low has been to MMM. Pray for his business to flourish & him to be blessed during the holiday period. Praise God for his protection over Ian Cross (MMMNZ staff) who was with Paul & Gerrah Kulikovsky & family who are workers (through Australian Missionary Tidings) living in one of the areas that has been badly affected by the typhoon in the Philippines.

Pray for the MMM Board members to continue having a great relationship with CEO Terry Baxter. Pray for Godly wisdom for the Board members as they govern MMM. Pray that all in MMM will be pleasing witnesses for the Lord, good stewards of God’s gifts & an encouragement to those they connect with, for God’s glory. VIC Head Office at Mitcham Pray for volunteers to come forward in 2014 to assist at the Mitcham Office, who have computer skills for administration work, website management, Facebook administration, publishing & PowerPoint presentation skills. MMMBuildABond Pray for safe & undelayed delivery of the container with the steel frames & other items for the MMM project in Chibobo, Zambia. This project is planned to commence in March 2014. Give thanks for Noel Taylor & Kim Roediger going to Zambia to work on this project & teaching skills to the VTC students using the CAD program & the steel rolling machine there. Pray for God to comfort Rod Dowling ( TAS Committee Chair ) & his wife Lyn as they have their first Christmas after they both lost their respective father recently. Pray for an outpouring of God’s love on all who are experiencing their first Christmas without loved ones. WED 25th - CHRISTMAS DAY Pray that this will be a wonderful day of celebration for all MMMers as they give thanks to God for his greatest gift to us—his only Son, Jesus Christ.
