Well here we are in December. What a year for Chapter TN-N (Forked Deer Wings) We have had the most fun

this year. Now getting ready for another Great Year! Chapter TN-N members are the BEST; I just love being

around them all the time. Anything we do, anywhere we go, whatever we do, and it’s all in FUN. Now we are

getting ready for a New Year and it starts with the Polar Bear Run on the 1st of January.

On Dec 1st we had our Christmas Party and what a turnout. If any other members had come, we would have

had to make more room. As it was, the room was full. Once we all had eaten, then it was time to give out

Awards, Certificates and best of all, MONEY. We had some that received Certificates for perfect attendance to

all the meeting. Some won money for the contest we had going on in the Chapter for the year. The most excit-

ing award presented was our New Couple of the Year, Avery & Diane Davis. They were the only ones to come dressed in our Dress Shirts out of everyone there. I wonder how they knew to wear the dress shirts. Will

to be truthful, they were the only ones to get an email from me to dress up. They thought everyone was going

to dressed up, but we had to get some pictures of them all dressed up for the Award.

We then started our Dirty Santa and what a blast that was. There were some very nice gifts and a lot of

stealing going on. Jeff as usual was the clown of the event and everyone sat in his lap as they open their gifts.

We had a Great Time at the Christmas Party.

Next we have the Polar Bear Run/Ride on Jan 1st. This will be at the Old Country Store, we will meet

there at 11:30am. We will still have our monthly meeting on Jan 5th, so we can plan for the Winter Event.

January 26th, it’s Winter Event. So look out, here comes Chapter TN-N to the Winter Event. We have been

planning for this. As far as I know, we all are coming. Talking about some FUN, it’s on! Everyone is all about

this and ready to go. Don’t forget the TN District Leadership Instructors Class on the 27th of Jan. It’s at the

same place the Winter Event is and it is on the Sunday. So for those that want to become an instructor, just

hang around.

There is a lot already planned for the New Year January just starts it off. Feb 2nd Chapter B has their 18th

Annual Chili Cook Off, Feb 9th Chapter N will host a Medic First Aid/CPR Class and Co-rider Course. So,

for those that would like to take one of the classes, get in touch with Shannon Seaton, Chapter Educator or

myself to let us know you will be attending. Our information to get in contact with us, is on the front page.

Feb. 23-24th is the TN District Horizons Class. If you have not been to this one, you should go, talking

about FUN, you will have a BLAST. This is just a start of the New Year, there is more to come. Remember,

make it FUN and they will COME!

Until then,

Ride Safe, Ride Often, Have Fun

Our Chapter Directors play

Santa Clause with awards.

No exceptions to Jeff’s antics.

Lori endures Dirty Santa. FUN! FUN! FUN!

Hello everybody, I hope this finds all of you well. My family is doing great. I am enjoying the weather, even

though it is a little cold. I do believe that the Christmas Party was the best one ever. Had a lot of members at-

tend, even had some visitors come and enjoy the party. Maybe we can get them to join our Chapter.

We have the Polar Bear ride coming up soon. Going to have fun and great food. We will meet at The old Coun-

try Store at 11:00. Maybe the weather will warm enough to ride the bikes. Everyone is getting excited about Win-

ter Fest. The Great Train Robbery is the theme this year. Not sure what we will come up with this time.

Everyone needs to be sure to check the Calendar and see what is planned in the near future. There are classes

coming up and all kinds of stuff. Drop over and read Chapter N’s Web page. Joe is doing a wonderful job.

I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas, gets to be with their families and gets everything from Santa that

they want. Have a Happy New Year, and remember to keep the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost in your

thoughts and prayers.

See you next year at the Old Country Store. Until then. . .

Ride A Lot, Be Safe, Have Fun

Our best Christmas party ever!

We both won the prize for participating but you see who got the money!!

I might need to

trade for that when I get my turn!!

Hello everyone,

I am including in my section of the newsletter an article from Rider Education database. This

is good information and advise while riding. Hope you enjoy!

RIDER ED ‘GIMME 5’ TOPIC: Do You Ride with the Right Attitude?

When you decide to take your motorcycle out for a ride, what are you thinking about? Where is your atten-

tion? Are you thinking about the things you will be doing when you get to work? Is your mind playing with the

words you could have said, or should have said, in the debate with your boss or your spouse earlier in the day?

In short, where is your head at when you saddle up? Each and every time you throw a leg over your motorcycle it

matters what you are thinking about. Whether you are simply commuting to work on your motorcycle to reduce

fuel costs, or you are heading out on a week-long vacation on two-wheels, your mental attitude plays a big role in

how safe you will be on the road, and how much you will enjoy the ride. Riding a motorcycle is an activity that is 80% to 90% mental while the rest is physical. When you are thinking about the job on your way to work, or going over the list of errands you need to complete, or just letting your

mind drift as you idle down to the end of your driveway, your level of safety is reduced. You need to shift your

attitude and focus only on the ride to insure an incident free trip. So how do you make the shift from thinking about daily issues to the ride at hand? Establish a routine that you

will go through before every ride. Start by evaluating the condition of your motorcycle as you walk up to it. Do a

mental T-CLOCS. Look at the tires as you approach (inflated, tread, visible damage). Are there any oily or wet

spots on the ground under your bike (where did it come from, is it safe to ride)? And try to be conservative when

you answer these questions to yourself. Keep your eyes open for anything amiss. Then, if everything looks okay,

gear up. (Of course, you should do a physical T-CLOCS regularly, too, especially before starting a long ride!) Next step, finish donning your protective outer layer. Most of us put on our gear in the same sequence every

time. Long pants and boots are usually put on in the house. Out at the bike, your jacket, helmet, eye protection,

and gloves complete the process. Consider the weather and make sure you have packed any other gear you may

need before the ride is over. Put the key in the ignition and start the bike. While the engine warms, check the fuel level. Determine how far

you will be able to go before you need to stop for a fill-up. Do you know the route you plan to take? Do you have

all the necessary information with you to get you where you want to go? Good. With those aspects considered, you are ready to focus on the journey. Now, when you shift your bike into

gear, shift your brain into “active rider mode” because nothing else matters now except your safety. All your

thoughts should be about the ride you are beginning. Your eyes should be active and scanning your surround-

ings - aggressively! Look for potential hazards that might cause you to change your speed (by braking or acceler-

ating), to change direction (by swerving or turning), or to communicate to other road users. A wave of the hand, a

flash of your high beams, or a toot of your horn tells others that you are there. Make sure they are aware of you.

Our Motto...

"Safety is for Life"

Our Mission...

" To Save Lives Through Quality, World Class Education"

All the while your mind should be translating the inputs from your eyes and ears into pictures of things that

might happen next. Evaluate in your mind what your response would be to each of the possibilities. When a haz-

ard comes up, keep your options open until you have to choose one – the best one – the one that lets you avoid

the hazard safely and without any drama. This is riding with the right attitude - the attitude that your job is to

ride safely until you park your bike and remove the key from the ignition. Develop a routine like this for yourself

and every ride you take will be a safer and more pleasing ride.

Season Greetings Everyone! Our reign is ending for 2012 and now it’s time for us to pass the Couple of Year

scepter. It is our pleasure and honor to present to you the new reigning 2013 Couple of the Year, Avery & Diane

Davis. It has been a great year and we have had a ball representing our chapter. The only thing we ask of Avery

& Diane is to … Have FUN, FUN, and more FUN! Again, being Couple of the Year is an honor with no work expec-

tations. However, as the new Couple of the Year you are going to want to join in and participate where ever the

fun is. We know you will have a great rule over the Chapter N Kingdom and a wonderful year!

Merry Christmas and have a very Happy New Year!

Well our last meeting of the year has come and gone. We are ready to move into 2013!! We have had a ball

this year and you can expect more of the same in the coming year. We are making plans for rides and rumor has

it that some will be catfish trips, afternoon rides to surrounding state parks, overnight trips with tours, and there

are a couple trips for overnight camping in our future. Get ready to have the time of your life!!

In addition to rides, there are plans for fun at the meeting. All of us can use a little competition in our life.

Members who work together as teams (randomly selected) who will compete at gatherings and earn points. Teams with highest points at end of year will be named Olympic Team of the Year! Details coming soon.

We are a great chapter and we deserve Chapter of the Year. This year has come and gone and we will be sub-

mitting the application with our activities for this year’s competition. As we start our new year, I would like to

have a group working on the criteria for this year so we can enter the completion strong for the coming year. I

need 4 excited people who would like to review the guidelines with me and improve our chances of winning this

designation next year. I like volunteers—they are the best, but I am not above recruiting you!!

Here is your Chapter Photograph for 2012. Thanks for all the fun!!

Christmas started on the first day of December for us this year. Chapter N had our Christmas Dinner at the

Old Country Store in Jackson. 2 weeks before the dinner our Director Tony Douglas sent us an email asking

everyone to dress in our new shirts. When we arrived it seemed that we were the only one to get that email, eve-

ryone else was all decked out in Christmas sweaters and Santa caps. After our meal and several awards were

presented we found out why we were the only ones with our new dress shirts and tie on. Avery and I were

named Couple of the Year for 2013. What a surprise and honor. I was even lost for words. Most folks that know

me have never seen me lost for words. Thank you for this honor. We will do our best to represent Chapter N.

Our Christmas tree is finally up and decorated. I was beginning to think that we might just pile the packages

around the box the tree came in, but our grandchildren decorated it. Katie age 10 and Jackson age 2 had a su-

per time pulling the ornaments out and placing them on the tree. Jackson put all his in about a foot square sec-

tion and Katie could only reach half way up the tree but it is the most precious tree that I have ever had.

Christmas at our house is all about Family and keeping in mind the true reason for the season. From our house

to yours, Merry CHRISTmas.

Our Best of the Beat Christmas Gathering!!

Our friends having fun. It doesn’t get any better

than this.

Who belongs to GWRRA?

GWRRA members are men and women from all walks of life with varied interests and backgrounds. We have rid-ers in their teens, riders in their 90's and every age in between! Many ride solo; many ride with their children or grandchildren! Some ride Wings that are new; some ride Wings that are "classics." Some belong for the technical information we share; some just for the enjoyment of riding with friends.

As a family organization, typical GWRRA fun includes restaurant runs, picnic rides, campouts or CPR/first aid workshops conducted in a wholesome, fun-filled environment suitable for all family members. We also have danc-es, charity runs, parades, ice cream socials and riding clinics.

To be a member of GWRRA, there are only two requirements: own a Honda Gold Wing/Valkyrie and keep your membership fees current. We have individual or family memberships available. For non Gold Wing/Valkyrie own-ers there is now a classification of our membership titled Associate, which is also available as individual or family.

Some of our most dedicated members, though once apprehensive about riding as passengers, have discovered the joys of touring: the fresh air, the beautiful vistas, the close communication with their partners. Many even learn to ride their own machines.

While generalization about a group of individuals as large as today's GWRRA is difficult, GWRRA members are likely to be independent thinkers, fun-loving, generous, adventuresome, cooperative and unfazed by the natural challenges of riding in the rain, temperature extremes or highway uncertainties. Many members have completed CPR and first aid training, making them the best-prepared riders on the world's highways!

Family of Jokes—HA HA!!

A young boy enters a barber shop and the barber whispers to his customer, “This is the dumbest kid in the

world. Watch while I prove it to you.” The barber puts a dollar bill in one hand and two quarters in the other,

then calls the boy over and asks, “Which do you want, son?” The boy takes the quarters and leaves. “What

did I tell you?” said the barber. “That kid never learns!” Later, when the customer leaves, he sees the same

young boy coming out of the ice cream store. “Hey, son! May I ask you a question? Why did you take the

quarters instead of the dollar bill?” The boy licked his cone and replied, “Because the day I take the dollar,

the game is over!”
