College-Wide Activity

I. Performance-Based Bonus (PBB)

The college was able to pass the scrutiny of AO 25 Task Force for its performance-based bonus. Of the all the agencies, BASC was one of the firsts to qualify for the PBB of 2012 and first to receive the bonus from DBM as of January 2013. Below is the MFO Accountability Report Card (MARC-1) showing the performance rating of the college for FY 2012.

II. CELEBRATION OF THE COLLEGE 61ST FOUNDING ANNIVERSARY The college celebrated its 61st Founding Anniversary last February 27-28, 2013. The

celebration included different activities and highlighted the “Dangal ng BASC Award” on the second day. The first day of the celebration was opened with a thanks giving mass which was attended by the college officials, faculty, employees and students. Followed simultaneously by a mini concert of the BASC performers (brass band, soundz cool band and cultural performers); one-stop-service shop for NSO, BIR, SSS, PhilHealth and Pag-Ibig documents. Likewise, an election of the new set of officers of the alumni association was also held in the afternoon. And mass demonstration of 17 groups including students and faculty and employees completed the first day of the celebration. The second day highlighted the celebration through the Dangal ng BASC Award. The award is given to alumni of BASC (both high school and college) who made a significant impact in the field of civil service, education, entrepreneurship/business, agriculture, environmental protection and arts and culture. The following were the seven awardees:

III. ACTIVITIES OF THE COLLEGE UNDER ACSA March, 2013

The college participated in the Regional Annual Administrative Tactical Inspection (RAATI) of the NSTP/ROTC last March 7, 2013. Of the 19 private and public colleges and universities, BASC placed second garnering an average score of 97.97%.

A meeting was called for the parents of the graduating class last March 5, 2013. The purpose of the said meeting was to inform them regarding the upcoming Recognition Day and 61st Commencement Exercises as well as the expenses to be incurred for the said events.

Entrance examination for Grade 7 had been conducted to 40 selected students last March 2013.

Conducted campaign regarding the courses offered and schedule of entrance examinations for the incoming freshmen to public high schools (San Miguel National High School and Carlos F. Gonzales National High School). Likewise, tarpaulins were posted to six municipalities of Bulacan such as San Miguel, San Rafael, Bustos, Baliuag, and Plaridel last February 2013 as part of the said information dissemination campaign of the college.

A. Updates on student scholarship

A total of 127 scholars received P 3,000.00 financial assistance under the Cong.

Joselito Jon-Jon R. Mendoza Scholarship Program for the 2nd semester of AY 2012-2013.

Under CIBAC Scholarship Program, 102 scholars received P3,000.00 financial assistance for this 2nd semester, AY 2012-2013.

Likewise, 313 scholars received P3,000.00 financial assistance under Provincial Governor Scholarship Program this 2nd semester, AY 2012-2013.

Documents of four DA-ACEF scholars were submitted to the Department of Agriculture main office. Scholars under this program would receive P15, 000.00 per semester.

C. For student welfare The Office of Student Affairs under the Graduate, Placement and Employment

Unit spearheaded an NSO Service to students last January 21, 2013. This activity aimed to help students process their NSO document especially those graduating students wherein authenticated birth certificate is required.

The Guidance and Counseling Unit regularly holds counseling sessions to assist/guide students and let them feel that they are not alone.

The Office of Student Affairs conducted seminars for the graduating class as well as their parents.

Fifty children below seven years old were invited together with their parents/guardian to participate in the gift giving activity initiated by the BNASCFEA last December 28, 2012.

Tribute to the Retirees BNASCFEA initiated a tribute to the two retirees last December 13, 2012.

Mr. Meliton V. Ponce, Asso. Professor II and had been in service for 34 and Mr. Apolonio Cruz who passed away last September 2012 were given tribute.

III. FACULTY DEVELOPMENT Engr. Myrtel Bernardo, faculty member (contractual) of the Institute of

Engineering and Applied Technology is currently undertaking her Master of Engineering at Bulsu under the CHED Scholarship Program. The scholarship grant was approved during the 1st trimester of AY 2012-2013. MOA had signed already.

Research, Extension & Training

I. RESEARCH, DEVELOPMENT &

TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT Regional Disaster Science and

Management S&T Capacity Development (PCIERRD-DOST & CHED, P612,200.00) implementation of this new

project started January 2012 up to December 2013. Inception meeting was conducted at PHILVOLCS. Also, MOA was signed between BASC & CLSU being the lead implementing agency. The project aims to strengthen the disaster science regional capacity through the SUCs, conduct regional and provincial risk assessments and to establish inventory database of disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation studies and hazard maps.

San Miguel and BASC. The model farm showcases vegetables grown naturally. Vermicomposting was also demonstrated to the farmers.

Varietal Evaluation, On-Farm Trials and Organic Vegetable Seed Production in

Region 3 (PCAARRD, P75,000/year in 3 years) on-farm trial for squash and okra was established at Brgy. Calumpang, San

Miguel, Bulacan. The trials aims to evaluate the performance of the two crops under farmer’s field condition

breeder seed production for squash, sitao and okra ampalaya yield trial is currently being conducted

Improving Water and Land Productivity through Technology Integration in the Uplands (DA-BAR, P1,627,100.00) data collection was undertaken

Facility Improvement & Resource Generation

I. CONSTRUCTION Agriculture Laboratory Center

Phase 1 construction of this

Agri-Lab Center has completed 60% of the actual target plan. Also, the second phase has started last January 8, 2013 and already completed 45% of its target. Cost for the construction of phase II is P3,180,000.00.

Two-Storey College Library

Construction of the college

library (Phase 1) has started last February 25, 2013. This 550m2 building is from the PDAF of Sen. Teofisto “TJ” Guingona amounting to P3M. At present, the project has completed its 30% target.

Two-Storey-Four-Classroom Graduate Studies Building

The college is currently undertaking the construction of its two-storey-four-classroom graduate studies building worth P5M. The budget was from the PDAF of Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano which was downloaded thru DPWH. Five-ten percent of the project target has been completed already which started mid of March 2013.

Perimeter Fence at the Institute of Agriculture

Construction of a 40-span perimeter fence in front of the Institute of Agriculture is currently on-going. The allotted budget of P300,000.00 was from the support fund pledge by the LGU of San Ildefonso. At present, 25 spans have been completed which started February 2013.

A native-type goat pen was constructed in anticipation of the goats that will be retrieved from the beneficiaries through the Goat Upgrading Project of the college funded by DA-BAR.

A water pump system was installed for the piggery of the college.
